I found several (small) pieces of lacquer sitting on my oil pan and I am not sure if I should be alarmed about goats. Do things look like they are OK?
The issue there is that now that the edges of the magnet are exposed they may catch and fly off under high RPM.
It's simple enough to fix, and you may as well do it since you already have the motor cracked open.
If you use EPOXY resin/hardener type stuff you can re-coat the bare magnets... only on the sides though, not the top face of them.
These things crack up all the time due to heating/cooling differently then the surrounding metal.
Even fiber-glass type resin/hardener will work... but I recommend the stuff in the tubes... just stay away from that 2 part injection style stuff... the applicator may be easy to use, but they're a 1 shot deal and are pretty much useless to save... but do what works easiest for you.
I actually just popped my oil pan off and had been thinking of what wonders I'd find in there... sadly (actually, i'm really excited) there was nothing in there... lol.

BUT
When cleaning my oil pan and then removing my side cover just a little bit ago, I see that I'm not as bad as the OP but getting there :technical: Little bits of orange in my oil pan and then only two of the six of my magnets still have coating on them....
My question is, does anyone know if it's true/OK to use fiberglass resin to fix this as Danny500 suggested?

This is a common thing, I wouldnt worry in the slightest.
Think about it, glue on the side of the magnets doesn't really do anything. What matters is the glue under the magnet.
