Title: PARTING 1991 GS500E
Post by: BGPKR on February 23, 2009, 12:24:10 PM
Like the title says, i'm parting out a 1991 GS500.  I bought the bike with the intention of doing a complete rebuild.  But the guy I bought the bike from has failed to get me a title, although he still says to this day he will.  Anyway, it's for sale.  The motor has 19k miles and overall the bike is in really good shape.  Most everything is good and available.  Let me know what you need and make me an offer.  Bike is all stock with the exception of a Yoshimura 2 into 1 exhaust.  I can post pics of the bike later.  I can best be reached through email ggjohns@gmail.com
Thanks

Tank, side covers, exhaust, carbs, bar ends, headlight brackets, switches, lever perches, headlight, gauges, Engine, frame, forks, seat SOLD

Still available "Wheels, front fender, calipers (front & rear),  rectifier, cdi box, plus a bunch of misc. stuff

The exhaust runners are a little rusty, but not dented or crushed.  The can could use a polishing.

There is a small fixable dent on one side, and a few scratches.

OK I cant drive and pick. Anyway, what else is broken on it. How's the adjuster knob on the trip meter, is any of the guage damaged or not working, or glass broken.
OK so if its functional and not busted, how's $10 and shipping. No, call your $.
Cool.

Adjuster knob is there and working, the glass are good for both gauges.  AFAIK both gauges work.  The place where the speedo is busted is the ring on the black cup where the trip know is.  $20 shipped and they're yours.  How that?

Hi there,
Is the gearshift lever in good shape with no bends or rust?
If so, how about $10 shipped to PA?
Also, is the front fender sold yet? I have the same 1991 GS500 in this blue and would like a spare front fender. $15 shipped?
Do you have the little blue plastic piece that fits between the two painted rear body side panels? It's the small piece behind the rear grab rail. If so, $5 for it and pack it with the gearshift lever?
Let me know and thanks,
Trwhouse

Hey badboy,
Did you see I just asked about the gearshift lever?
How about being patient and waiting to see what happens with my discussions with him first?
There is some order and respect here on this site.
We're glad you just arrived, so now be nice to the other members, too.
If someone asks about buying something before you do, you can always mention that you are interested in the same part if that deal doesn't work out.
Thanks,
Trwhouse

Hey,

I just sent an email to the address you listed in the first post. I'm interested in the seat, mud flap (the black part attached to the front fender) and mounting screws, and possibly the forks... the only caveat is... does anyone know if this stuff will fit on a 96GS500E? The seat looks identical from the photo, but I'm not sure if the mounting is any different.. same with the forks. At any rate, please let me know. Thanks!

91/96 same crap. Maybe get his caliper too if that fork is what you're buying.
BTW, I fixed up the GS for zeusrenking, and fixed the virago and rode it, for 4 hours and 90 freaking miles ... so sorry no looky for forky ...
BTW I ran across people with lost chains on the road, and the girl friend wanted to ride off with me leaving the losers bling bling, ass on the side of the road, and dont get ideas, I helped them by making a U turn and riding back looking for the chain, getting a master clip from my backpack (lucky he had a 520) and helping get it back on, and told that clown to keep it under 50 ... as well as get a whole 30 rider pack going out of single riders, like you ride down the road, one other guy falls in behind you, you acknowledge and ride on, and more and more fall in or you catch them, pretty soon there was 25-30 probably un connected riders on the road like a train.
Oh yea, happy day light saving time day to y'all.
Cool.

Sorry man, first decent weekend we've had in years ... OK sorry only like 3-4 weeks, but hey, it was 80 today and bright and sunny and I got 2 bikes fixed, 1 carb opened and 1 carb cleaned (OK not quite it was filthy dirty ... shame on you) and 1 carb ready to go back to GI_JO_nathan. booya.
I have to do 1 more carb for zeusrenking from scratch literally, but its all good. I get 3-4 bikes off my driveway ASAP looks like. Cant believe wednesday we had snow and ice.
Cool.
