'Stupid Crackhead Cripple'??
:tongue2: :tongue2: :tongue2: :tongue2: :tongue2: :tongue2: :tongue2:
No pulls or anything, just sore from exertion. I did a couple of warm up sets of deads and then worked my traps at 605 max afterwards. I'll have someone snap a pic of me doing shrugs at around 450-500lbs, my neck almost completely dissappears :icon_rolleyes:
I'm pretty careful about my back and knees. They've got a long time they have to keep carrying my big ass.
lol fo sho
545 is alot.
Aye north of a quarter ton. more than some cars can carry as cargo :cookoo:
I wanna see you dead lift, then farmer walk 500lbs. Then your a beast in my books. lol J/K Youre already a beast.
It's gonna be a fun day. I feel like I've been beaten with a baseball bat.
Because I am an absolute glutton for punishment, I blasted the hell out of my traps today. Peak with a 2 rep @ 685. Goal is 815. New supplement shipment should be here tomorrow, more Test booster, sleepy pills, and their new BCAA product.
Your Enhancers , Steroids?
No, all legal for now. I use the Fusion Bodybuilding lineup. Purple K (Creatine, dropping this though), Fubar (pre-workout stimulant), Zeus (Test production stimulant), and as soon as my next shipment arrives, I'll start Agent M, their BCAA supplement.
People are idiots. Kid pulled his Trap because he couldn't take advice from myself and a ranked bodybuilder on proper shrug form (It's supposed to be linear, not compound. ie. Rolling your shoulders back at the apex of the movement=bad) It looked painful, he couldn't move his head, glad I listened to people when I started out so I didn't make that mistake.
f%$king Prick
unless i'm wrong, a "proper shrug" is: back straight, good posture, without bending elbows, lift arms staight up as high as possible, thus making a "shrugging" motion with your shoulders. :dunno_white:
Yeah, that's pretty much the deal. Some morons think it's a good idea to roll their shoulders back at the top...ITS NOT. Even if it doesn't result in injury, you're just straining the muscle with no gain.
well he will have to deal with having a head that can only turn in one direction without a sharp pain in the neck for a while, what a prize :icon_lol: :icon_lol:
Out of respect for your achievements, I'm controlling my urge to analyze your supplement routine. :D
Best compliment I can give, since biochemistry is one of my most favoritistest topics in the wo-orld. And, nobody likes a supplement-whore.
You make me miss my old workouts. I've chosen the path of nerd-dom instead.
Enjoy the endorphin rush, Terry-nator. Don't be too hard on us little folk.

That hurts. I rolled my shoulders at the end of a shrug, hurt like a mofo.
Cool.
Buddha.
Analyze away! I'd actually enjoy an unbiased educated opinion. Fusionbodybuilding.com has all their product info. I cut the pre workout and creatine, so my lineup is Zeus, shut eye, and agent m along with an average of 300g protein per day on a 3500-4500 kcal daily intake.
As a body-buildiing trainer, I approve your supplement regimen. Your diet looks good and the most important part is getting 8 hrs of sleep a day. Good luck and keep up the record breaking!
The shut eye is really good at helping you get and stay asleep. It is easily the best non prescription sleep aid on the market. Fusion puts out some great product, and their people are really focused on making a good name for the brand. Of course, were I to get my hands on a case or two of jintropin..,...........

The magic words.
Wouldn't drop the creatine during a work phase. You need the phosphate. You don't have enough mitochondria, since you mentioned being sore. The lactic acid buildup would be worse without creatine, and sometimes the body can pull phosphorous from bones just to have a phosphate source. It's gonna take a while for the mitochondria to catch up, since you're putting a focus on cell repair and formation. Not like you're gonna get osteoporosis or anything, but you're not hurting anything with the creatine if you're staying hydrated.
Don't try to stack it with a diuretic, though. What is that one that's so popular from GNC? Some people stack them during their cardio phase to help their thighs from burning and cut at the same time, then end up swapping kidneys with their sister. You probably know that, but just saying. Thought one of my relatives was smart enough to know, then he found himself pissing blood somewhere in Mexico and nearly lapsed into a coma.
Olive oil is your friend, but I'm sure you already know that. You're getting some type of lipidase through your supplements, which is kinda cool. It'll help build cell membranes, so just give it a good lipid source (and phosphate, again). Plus, a lot of your hormones (including the one you're most concerned with) are lipids.
If you're worried about creatine screwing with your body, then just tell the unit PA. There's a simple test that can check for proper urine protein concentrations. Just fake it; tell him your chest feels tight, you feel nauseous, your skin feels itchy all over (unless you can fake hives or a rash), and you take creatine. If he says you've got a virus or an STD, then just tell him you keep seeing brown spots in your pee. Looks like little globs of chocolate syrup or pieces of chicken liver in the bottom of the toilet.
Just be sure to tell the urologist the situation before he shoves a scope up your Oscar Meyer.
Might be a good idea if you're a booze-hound.
I suppose you're getting your other essential AA's from the protein (especially if it's casein) and that you're taking a good vitamin. If you're not using casein, then check for calcium. For your muscles, not your bones.
Just tell your squad leader or whomever before you see the PA, otherwise word can spread really quickly that you're the idiot that OD'd creatine. Not a good thing for one's career. Best to head it off at the pass.
I'm pretty sure your command would appreciate that you're paying attention to your health. And, chances are that they wouldn't mind a little manipulation of pain-in-the-ass medics.
No command issues to worry about ATM, I ETS'd nearly 2 years back. I keep toying with the idea of going back...........but that's another thread.
I'm cutting the creatine because, as best I can figure, my normal diet supplies a sufficient amount. I've never made spectacular gains while on it and only took it this time because the company sent me a bottle free.
I don't touch diuretics aside from grapefruit juice, so no worry there.
I use Isopure 0 carb protein, which naturally supplies a healthy dose of BCAA's. I've also very recently started taking Agent M, which supplies a daily:
3500mg L-leucine
1750mg L-isoleucine
1750mg L-valine
1000mg L-arginine
yup, they're massive freaking pills.....
Well, G'night. Gotta hit the plates early tomorrow.
mmm grapefruit juice, i had some for breakfast :icon_lol: :icon_lol:
I don't drink a lot of grapefruit juice, usually just for a day or two every other month along with heaping amounts of superpump(should have been named colon blaster 5000) just to clean everything out.
Like I said, I didn't want to criticize your supplement choices. What form of creatine did you have? You weren't taking those gel-caps, were you? Try the micronized or liquid citrate one day, if you ever come back to it. But, yeah, you get it in beef, anyway.
There are five other essential AA's.
I'm sure Isopure has you covered, though. It's got everything and then some. Wish the pre-mixed bottles weren't so expensive. Tastes so much better.
Hell, lifting 545... Doesn't really matter what you're eating, you're way better off than me. You've just about doubled my personal best, but then you're probably double my body weight, also. I couldn't keep up with my caloric needs, and I can't stand flaxseed. But, boy do I miss those days.
What's ATM? @$$hole of The Month?
I use the powder Isopure :icon_confused: It's not quite as good as the premixed bottles, but it's hugely cheaper.
Basically, I want to be a 6' tall version of this:
I'm not too far off..........my chest/back/upper triceps are on par, just need to do some fine tuning of my forearms and biceps and start cutting.
Wish I could afford the GH that he's on.
Wouldn't do me any good, but at least I could pretend.
Ain't that the truth. If I had the cash there would be regular shipments from China to my front door. A friend of mine found himself a dirty old widow worth 7 figures who's been offsetting his cost. He's been at it about 2 months and has gained 12lbs :cookoo: The best thing about a quality HGH is that it's significantly easier for your body to process and doesn't have fun side effects for 20-30 years down the line like liver/kidney failure, aortic valve failure, etc.
Yep. You nailed it.
Plus, at his age, his GH production has fallen so low...
But, who cares. Old people have all their freakin' experience anyway; they don't need bodies. Just a head rolling around on a skateboard or something.
(Dear Old person: You imagined that I just said that. Because you have mad cow. Stop driving cars.)
That's hilarious about your friend's "sponsor"! Didn't think any of those actually existed. Thought it was an urban myth. Lucky bastard!
so what's all the big govt fluff about HGH anyways? if it doesn't have the adverse affects that "other" products have, then why is it frowned upon? :dunno_white:
I'm not sure if it's a scheduled drug, but the AMA frowns on it's use as a purely performance enhancing drug rather than as a treatment for a condition :icon_rolleyes:
okay, let me get this straight, when i'm injured, my doctor can give me steroids and it's "ok" although if i'm a competitor of any kind, i'll fail a piss test anyways, injury or not. :cookoo:
A pointless ethical can o' worms.
Not to be an ass. I hear that sort of thing pretty often where I go to school. Yet, they still can't play a decent game... :icon_mrgreen:
Worst drop-out rate in the state, too!
Real winners, in every regard...
Theoretically, you could take enough GH to result in gigantism or acromegaly.
There is a difference, I just can't remember which is which (shows how much I've been studying :icon_rolleyes:). In one, your body makes too much GH and in the other it doesn't stop producing it. Anyway, your body decreases production at a certain age to stop you from growing past what your organs and skeletal system can support. It continues to make small amounts in order for you to age "gracefully". It's not a steroid, per se, so it's not scheduled the same (I don't know if it is at all). I haven't been taught the difference yet, and I'm too lazy to check.
However, I believe the main difference is that it causes whole-body growth (not simply limited to muscle). It enables skin repair and elasticity, stimulates growth at the bone plates (which I can't understand), prevents loss of muscle tone, and such things.
A few years ago, it was marketed as the miracle anti-aging pill simply because they discovered new ways of synthesizing it instead of taking it from cadavers. But, it's still expensive, and so people kind of lost interest.
It's not so much frowned upon as it is simply deemed unnecessary. People believe that it will help them live longer, etc. There's no common condition besides the effects of aging (not the aging itself) that it can help. So, if you tell your doctor that you want GH because you're getting old, he's gonna laugh at you. Aging is natural, and he's likely to waste time trying to reverse the process. Especially when you're bound to complain constantly about the price. Let's not forget that you must take it constantly to appreciate the effects.
As far as I know, it doesn't prevent neuron degeneration (although that would be interesting). Much of the hubbub comes from the age-old debate: if you have a product that can help the population live longer and healthier lives, shouldn't you give it to the entire population for free? Now that they've figured out the limitations, the debate has died.
This is all why I say: "It won't do me any good, but I can pretend."
Now, i could be wrong. I'm just a lowly pre-med with a Fisher-price stethoscope and a Dr. Seuss anatomy text.
Doesn't keep me from wanting the stuff, anyway. Call me Napoleonic, I don't care. And, if I could afford constant injections for the rest of my life (and my family's), then I'd be living in a much better state of affairs.
I asked a Doc that I lift with:
Basically the FDA has set forth a VERY short list of approved conditions for HGH treatment, about 1/15th what it should be. Outside of that short list of treatment is obviously a federal offense, do not pass go, do not collect $200, please remit your medical license for destruction. The main issue with going the semi-legal route for HGH as a performance enhancer is that the approved conditions are hard to fake. Not a miracle drug, but it is a hell of a powerful tool for treatment of a lot of things.
On the other hand, faking a low free test level is easy. Basically, wear your body into the ground. Stay up way too late, overtrain, drink like a sailor, cut meat and fat out of your diet and tell your Doc that you're having trouble sleeping and f%$king.
i'm just wondering why the FDA has it on such a short leash is all. i mean, it's crazy enough when someone in any competition gets busted for pot and they say, "he/she was taking performancing enhancing drugs." WRONG! when your stoned you lucky if you can find your own damn feet. seriously, watch Robin Williams : Live on Broadway. anyways. i don't know much, but HGH sounds to me like a "natural steroid". something your body produces anyways. not something anabolic. am i wrong? or am i just not getting the picture? :dunno_white:

Wow, I should get an appointment...
That's not exactly "faking", though. Such a lifestyle does actually inhibit test production, and sometimes it's out of your control. Hel!, you were in the Army, you've seen how it can make folks crazy (ahem :icon_rolleyes:). I definitely understand your frustration, though.
Thanks for reminding me of that, though. I thought of it two years ago, then forgot completely. Might get myself some "essence au bull testicle". Or is it goat, now?
The FDA is very bureaucratic, Jserio. The aim is to stop people from jacking up their bodies with snake oil from convincing marketing, narcotics and such things, drugs that haven't been properly researched, etc. From what Terry's buddy is saying, you're not getting GH unless you're under three feet tall with proportioned limbs and skull. Otherwise, you have produced or are producing enough to support yourself.
I think that "money talks" is working in Sly's case.
Don't blame it on the medical profession, though. You can be prescribed cocaine as a topical analgesic, Schedule 1 narcotics for pain management, etc. It's a matter of returning someone to their natural state (or as close as possible) to give them as high a standard of living as possible (then letting them screw it up).
The better thing to be frustrated with is nicotine!
Talk about lobbying.... :cookoo:
The big rage now is either bGH, readily available from Mexico and legal as long as 'you don't intend to use it on humans' or 'homeopathic' hGH. HhGH is kinda BS though, the dosages needed to produce the results of IM injections are obscene (think radioactive cocktail 3 times daily) and rival IM cost. bGH, well f%$k, seriously..........I'm OK with synthetic compounds of anything my body naturally produces, keep the mad cow serum away though. :icon_rolleyes:
I've actually become fairly fond of the test booster I'm taking. The science is fairly solid behind it and the effects are unmistakeable. You know how cocky freshly tabbed Rangers are? Think that with more intensity. I'm planning on getting bloodwork done this time to confirm, but last time all the signs of heightened free test were present.
I've been back on about a week now and it's starting to show it's head again. I start getting very aggressive, both in my training and socially, when in the gym...........and of course tonight I snapped on a guy because I didn't like how he was looking at me. A few minutes later I realized I MAY have been a little harsh.
Anyone catch the Arnold Classic? Dexter Jackson got robbed, he was easily the meanest and leanest competitor.......hell, his striations had striations.

hell, his striations had striations.
Ha! I didn't see it, though. Makes me sad to watch it, since I'm such a whining lazy bum with my sh!t lifestyle. Sounds like the normal political crap, though.
Jeez, I miss being a cocky bastard. Sounds like good stuff. My last booster was ineffective. I ended up throwing it away and trying to fake my own placebo effect. :D
Didn't work, but I tried.
Congrats on that! You must be doing your homework instead of just picking the fanciest magazine ad. What are you using for a stimulant? Please don't tell me you're chugging a Red Bull and then huffing ammonia, like the idiots around here. :icon_rolleyes:
I know we've talked about creatine a little much, but I'm studying tonight and can't resist.
Caffeine interferes with creatine production (in your liver) and absorption.
Your body is healthy enough to have large energy reserves. Once those energy reserves run out, your body turns anaerobic, using creatine and fermentation. You know fermentation is bad. But, if you've got creatine and you're not using it, you're gonna depend more on fermentation. You might be hitting muscle failure sooner than you should (if you're that kind of lifter).
I know you don't like the stuff, and I respect that. I'm just giving you some textbook info. Use it however you want. Besides, you already know what's most important!
Back to studying! Four in the morning, only 6 hours to anatomy midterm.
I was wrong on that. Fast-twitch fibers are anaerobic already.
I unintentionally cycle with caffeine. I'll give it up completely for a while, but it'll slowly creep back into my routine. I don't touch energy drinks though (OK, on rare occasion), I had a bad experience after drinking nearly a gallon of rockstar one night studying for finals :cookoo:
The company I use is pretty solid. It's run by a bunch of muscleheads so they're pretty in touch with what the community wants. They also do all of their trials on humans instead of rats.
Dexter just got robbed  I think the judges this year went for a more 'loveable' champ, instead of the pure freak effect with Dexter.
Good luck with that midterm. I don't envy you, but I can't imagine it will be any worse than a process geomorph exam. Ughh, if there is one class that can make rocks dull, that is it.
Whatchu got against rats? I'm a lab animal science major. I love rats!
That's pretty cool, though.
Caffeine = bad. Besides, your synaptic receptors end up compensating, anyway. It only takes them 20 to 30 minutes, depending on your body mass, rate, dosage, and frequency.
That's how people get sucked into drinking more and more coffee.
And, that it's addictive.
Don't even get me started on coffee... Toluene (brake cleaner), etc..
I hope we're not doing some sort of back-and-forth competitive conversation, and I don't know about it? I can never figure it out until it's too late, then I look like an ass.
If we are, then - Screw you!
If not, then let me know if there's anything I can find out for you. In return, get your "sponsored" buddy to hook me up!
Rats are awesome, but honestly I don't give a flaming f%$k if something boosts their test level. I need to know if it will boost mine.
It's easy for me to stay away from coffee (aside from a very rare specialty coffee), I hate the crap.
My buddy is going to have problems fitting through doors in another few months, he's already freakin huge. I keep telling him to hook me up with one of her friends. I'm pretty sure I could sleep really well at night living with the fact that I'd be screwing someone twice my age. (of course that is an effect of hGH)
Back to the GH, don't mess with it. it HAS killed people. More than 4-6 IUs will cause acromegaly. It has been shown that Mirapex causes dopamine release and indirectly causes natural GH increases, which enhances your gains. Food for thought.
don't mess with anything that has every adversely affected anyone elses ability to breathe and remain living......man, if i followed that thought, i'd never do anything... food for thought... :icon_mrgreen:
I'll bet ya a dollar that enlisting in the Army has killed more people than hGH.
is that an american dollar???? :icon_mrgreen: now seriously, i agree with ya terry. :thumb:
Yeah, and acromegaly's a continuous state of high GH. Continuous being the key word.
Know what else causes dopamine release, Kaizer? Sex, drugs, rock and roll, motorcycles, fighting, smoking pot, laughing at jokes, riding roller coasters, cheering the home team, getting an A on your Physiology midterm, spending money, getting and giving presents, or anything else that gives you pleasure.
Hell, lifting weights alone causes dopamine release.
Why am I not huge?
Before I'm called an @$$hole or something again:
I lowsided today. I'm trying my best to polite right now.
Think I'll raise one tonight for our fallen brothers, now that you've mentioned them, Terry.
My midterms are over, and it's been a while since I've toasted to my bros.
Just got done with a nearly 3 hour lift, destroyed my bis traps and pecs. I think I'll hit a bar and raise one in memory also. Sorry about the lowside(that shaZam! sucks).
It's okay...you're missing the point about mirapex and the dopamine thing. Sorry bout the low-side. that sucks! hope you're okay and the bike.
Oi............I'm at the bar, killing a beer and talking to a guy that lifts at my gym. All of a sudden two little pricks that combined *might* outweigh me get into a fight. My buddy and I broke the fight up without any problem AND I didn't even set my beer down. God bless Lat and Tri work. I came up from the side, put my forearm one of the guys chest and BAM. I was pretty calm through the whole thing, just helping the bar owner out.
On the other hand, I got pissed today (about something incredible minor) and mule kicked an aluminum door. It took nearly 45 minutes to work it back enough to close right. It's time to start taking the St. Johns Wort again.
lol. Yeah, Im the same way with the incredibly short temper when the right trigger is tripped. Just the other day i put a dent in my b pillar....with my fist. Knuckle indentations and all... Sucks afterwards when i realize what ive done. Like the time I put a hole in my bedroom door with my head with a single head butt because it was locked and i wanted in. Or when i split my parents front entry door in half with a hammer fist because the delivery guy layed on the doorbell too long for my liking. Then there was the incident where i broke a guys car window out with an elbow and dragged him out and made him apologize to my mother for callinmg her a Buddha Loves You. Or how about when i was so pissed i head butted an elevator door and put a dent in it and nearly knocking myself out in the process. Or the best yet...gettign in an argument with someone on the other side of a wall. Them sayign they cant hear me, then i punch a hole straight through both sides and ask "can you hear me now mother fucker?" Yeah I got tons of em. But youd never know it by looking at me. lol

WHAT?!?!?! seriously???? MF'er. That is absolute bullshit. Im pissed now. So f%$king pissed.
See, I'm hoping to do something about that when I'm an MD.
That, and better care for the homeless vet population. The number of homeless OIF vets is already past two thousand, and there weren't many of us in the first place! Hell, 7th Cav alone was around 1300 guys.
Absolutely shameful.
The 3rd ID Commander promised us a damm ticker-tape parade through NYC, can you believe that? Now look at us...

Where is your source for this Obama accusation? That sounds far-fetched.
Now I know who to call if I need to lift my bike into my dad's pickup!
My daily regimen is a little different. It consists of a bowl of cereal, sometimes a donut, lotsa coffee, several smokes throughout the day, eventually dinner, and several beers.

Ohh and I got my heart beating fast/hard enough pulling that 725 stunt that my nose started bleeding
Oddly enough, I feel like I've been mauled by an insane chimp today. Full body soreness.
I'm sorry SPC but that doesn't sound healthy! The mood issues alone are actually quite alarming look what Chris Benoit did.
HGH does have side effects though like high blood pressure, joint inflammation/ deforminties, cardiac arrythmias, mood disorders, fluid retention, pituitary gland failure, and many other things. I HATE steriods I HAVE to take them for my Chron's disease. They sent me over the edge with the anger and rage, then my face swelled so bad couldn't get my helmet on, the heart failure really sucked, then the steroid induced diabetes, I could go on. I got pissed and stopped the med cold turkey my adrenal glands completely failed on me my blood pressure bottomed out and spent two weeks in ICU. So, yup steriods is some dangerous krap.
Thanks though for referring to the L-Arginine my cardio in Boston recommended it to me a few years back for a good way to ease chest pain without the massive bp drop. It is also known to help guys wiht a little ED.
We just needed a woman's touch to ease the testostorne a little :tongue2: .
Please don't think I'm an a$$ I just care about you boys on here!

Nosebleed? Pansy. :icon_mrgreen:
I used to love coming up from a squat and passing out. You know what I'm talking about!
One minute you're at full squat, the next minute you're up, and you can't remember the lift. Just a haze coming over your vision and everything getting cold, right as you're starting to push your feet through the damn floor! I friggin love squats!!
I'm kinda anemic, anyway, so maybe it's just me. Spotters used to hate me for that sh!t, though. I friggin loved it. If I couldn't remember the last two lifts, then I went home happy.
Man, I love reading this thread. Brings back the memories. You lucky, lucky bastard.
How are you getting your calories at work? You got a microwave strapped to your bike, or are you doing the cold tuna/shake/peanut butter thing?
I almost passed out while coming up from a full on hardcore squat...too bad there were no spotters in my bathroom to catch me! :D
oh, that squat, seriously nice job
Mostly protein shakes. They make up about 2/3-1/2 my diet it seems. I've never passed out, I think that probably is anemia related, though I've puked after squats. I puked last night after my protein shakes, that pissed me off bad. I'm thinking tomorrow is going to be a light day seeing as my entire body is sore. Well, my lats may not be sore, or they could be so sore I can't feel em :dunno_black:
It was a great lift over all. Most of the night there were just 2 of us in the weight room. Myself and a world record (for his age/weight squat) holding powerlifter. Those poor bars won't ever be the same :icon_twisted:
I skipped out on the gym today, I was still pretty sore and didn't want to go and have a shitty workout.
Instead I went for a good hour long walk on the beach with the pup (OK, he's actually 11yo, but he thinks he's a pup)
I'll get 3 hours or so lifting in tomorrow after church.
There it is. That's what I've been waiting for.
What are you gonna do now, big fella?
You know you need to train your belly, and what it's gonna take.
Or, are you gonna tell yourself that you just need a rest cycle, and then never come back from it?
Or start your cardio immediately and reverse your gains?
Those big lifts have been working. Now, you've got full body soreness, you're emotional, and your gut's even pussed out, right at your apex. You know why. So, whatcha gonna do about it?
You think you're the only one that got a case of the weepies right after they started puking? Don't come over here looking for a shoulder to cry on. Go watch the friggin View at your Grandma's house and have a cup of tea with some friggin scones.
Go f%$k with some buck pvts!!(someone needs to, DS's are gettin soft)
Focused on lunge today, made 5 reps each side at 460 for my peak set. I'm gonna go eat half a fuckin cow and drink 3 isopures now......... Scratch that, I've got a couple Lbs of Boston butt I need to finish off.
Good.
You'd better be serious, and not posting more estrogenic bullsh!t.
I've spent too much time on this thread for you to puss out just because you overcame your booster.
The last person I trusted to talk sh!t to me about buck privates and such... I stood guard over pieces of his brain splattered over the road, with cars running over it like a dead squirrels. So, if you're disgracing that with some kind of argumentative, passive-aggressive BS, then you deserve what happens.
Otherwise, good luck fighting the wall. And, nice pup.
No offense was intended. Haven't overcome the booster, it's just starting to really kick in. I'm thinking about signing up for a local powerlifting event in 2 weeks. I'll probably decide tuesday. I'm doing deads and shrugs again. I'm pretty sure I can pull out a solid 495 dead with good form. *might* be enough to get me noticed in the amateur arena.
About to take the pup on another walk, it'll be good to stretch my legs out after todays lift and right about now is when all the hot women are running on the beach.
I remember seeing a pic of ur tattoo , ur eagle on ur arm , this was a year ago or so , and ur arm was a tree trunk, any pics of what shape ur in now? u sound huge!
Quote from: spc on March 22, 2009, 03:47:04 PMa solid 495 dead with good form.
Good stuff. Bend every bar in that mother.
No offense taken. No need to say anything. This is YOUR house.
Don't worry about me. Just hard to gauge, over just typed words. And, you're the first person since.. you know.
I just don't wanna see you fail. Maybe I miss the camaraderie.
Forget it. My problem.
Make your chalk Buddha Loves You videotape the lift. Quarter of a ton without bouncing.. you're gonna want that on tape. So would the fans that you've collected here.
I'm still debating the event. I just found out about it today so it's a little short notice. It'll all come down to Tuesdays lift. If I don't, there are 3-4 more this summer that I would have time to prepare for.
Chalk?!?!?!? Where's the fun in that?!?!?!? Then you don't get all those fun little half ass blisters on your palms.
Jay: my arm was around 16.5inches in that picture and I'm brushing 19 now and my forearms have gotten a lot more developed.
I'm out, gotta get my beauty sleep :cookoo:
This midlift update brought to you by apple: great so far, going to try to get 765 up on shrugs and have another 8-12 set triceps, quick steam and then a full report. I'd say wish me luck, but luck is for weak bitches.
WOOHOO!!!!! 2 reps before I fell forward and bent the f%$king catch bars :thumb:
I sat down for about 10 minutes after that and finished my triceps up at 220
This upcoming event is a NoGo. No amateur cat. and I'm not qualified for otherwise.
At the beginning of my lift I did 2x5 deads at 405 then 2x5 at 455 keeping a very close eye on form. >:(
Jay here's some up to the minute stats:
right side measurements:
Bicep- 19 dead on
Forearm- just shy of 16 so 15.8~
Calf- 21.25
Quad 6 inches above the knee- 28
shaZam! , Im a 13 inch bicep and 42 inch chest... Damn u make me tiny. then again i dont work out lol
The great part is that I'm one of the smaller guys. The Army really should stop recruiting at courthouses and start hitting up gyms. (That courthouse thing isn't a joke, I got a ticket in Savannah and when I went to court for it they were set up in the lobby :cookoo: ) There's easily a dozen guys at my gym that would make excellent Soldiers. (well a few that I know of have already made excellent Soldiers and Marines)

oh my goodness , Im a 13 inch bicep and 42 inch chest... Damn u make me tiny. then again i dont work out lol
Im with you on that one man. The best part is when some one our size casually knocks a measured 950psi punch in front of guys twice the size only hitting 700's. Wanna talk about ruining some ones day and putting a little more motivation in thier work outs...lol (not sayign it was me...because i cant prove it. as far as anyone knows im just bullshitting)
My punch strength is miserable, but honestly punching doesn't win a fight.
Kinetic energy is mass times velocity (squared) over two.
An increase in mass gives a two-fold kinetic increase, whereas an increase in velocity gives a four-fold kinetic increase.
So, velocity wins over size where punching is concerned.
Funny, I was just having this conversation earlier today with a guy. He was stating his belief that hitting kids with an open palm to the face, then he failed this week's EMT testing for the upteenth time.
Just let me get my hands on ya in a fight though and you'll wish you'd landed a few more punches. Anyone remember that scene in Rambo where he rips the guys throat out??
No Gym today. It was clear all day and it's supposed to pour tomorrow so I decided to swap days and tackle replacing the 7 gaskets associated with the valve cover and the coils on the Jag. Fuching pain in the ass :icon_rolleyes: but I got it done.
Probably going to double back on my lats heavy tomorrow and do a mid level on my traps, delts and triceps.
oh no the punchign vs grappling debate...lmao. All im going to say is to win a fight, you must be versed in each. And being the stronger person in grappling doesnt always mean a win, though it certainly helps. Ive thrown and submitted many men larger and stronger than me. And the throat grab, yikes. That is a really scary thing. If youve never had it happen to you, dont let it. The only good thing you can ever gain from beign on the wrong end of one is that they just gave you thier arm to f%$k up if they dont crush your laranyx first. And if all else fails...run like hell. Aint no shame in living.
Yeah, being the little guy that always forgets he's little, I can attest to the scariness of that throat grab. Getting knocked out, lacerations, hell, even broken eye orbit... I don't give a crap anymore. It's always the same thing, just a thud, some stars, and some burning-icey feeling if there's a laceration. Ear punches don't even hurt, choke holds are boring (even when you're in them), blah blah.
But, losing that airway, or diaphragm spasm/paralysis... that's hell. Pissed off my karate instructor once, and was gifted with a sample mule kick. The broken 10th and 11th ribs were nothing compared to the diaphragm paralysis. Hell, I didn't even feel the ribs.
Course, I haven't lost a tooth before. I heard that's sh!tty. I've had them come through my lips, and class rings come through the lips to meet the teeth, but not completely lost.
And, I've never had a dislocation or break. Why are people always scared to break things, except ribs? Not counting the ghetto-boxers, all they know is the One-Two. Why is everybody else always too scared to snap something? All I want is to get away with a nice, clean radius-ulna break. Alas...
Eh. My bad. Thread hijack, plus looking like an idiot.
Terry, you've aced a PT test, regularly, right? Did you ever get "the letter"? You know... the one that you can't mention to civilians without looking like an attention-whore? I've searched and searched my records, and I can't find mine. I thought it might give a little credibility to these things I talk about, which people don't seem to believe.
You know the one.. invitation to the Q-Course, etc? No need to say it on here. Just wondering if you got one.
My best official APFT was a 264. Aced front and back and obviously barely passed the go, but ask me what my 4 mile time was!?
I broke my ass bone(highly technical medical term) in Basic trying to show off on the rope and fell :icon_rolleyes: hairline fracture of my collar bone after being hit by a car on my bicycle, near seperation of my thumb/ horribly broken and distended carpometacarpal, can't count the number of lacerations that should have been stitched that I 'fixed' with superglue instead.......but wait, never broken a rib!!
I know a guy who just washed out of selection because his endurance sucked. Ran 11 minute PT's, but his 4 mile was near mine and 6 mile significantly slower.
I feel sorry for those guys. Let's not talk about it, though. The civilians will start calling BS, and I really don't wanna hear it.
Broken coccyx, that thing is annoying in the way it hurts!
Jumped in a turret once and didn't see the M240-mounted grip poking up. My tank raped me.
You've been hit by a car? Ya got me on that one.
:icon_eek: I knew you tankers bonded with your vehicles but DAMN. About the only good thing that came from breaking my ass were the copious amounts of drugs. Other than that, they told me 'Don't f%$king do that again idiot' and pushed me on the bus back to barracks.
Twice I've been hit by motor vehicles. Once when I was a youngin while on my bicycle then again on my GS.
My lats are kinda numb right now :icon_rolleyes: I went apeshit and puked while repping 205 on rows :icon_rolleyes:
I'll post some pics of my row setup in the other thread for jackass to see how to actually build muscle.
I think ive gotten pretty lucky with the injuries. ive never broken a bone in my body. Unless you count the nose 10times. And ive broke every knuclkle cept the thumbs. Ive had pretty bad stuff happen and i walked away with no more than over all soreness. Most of which people would never believe.
Thread unjacked. lol I need to start working out again. Ive gained 20lbs since september and i can feel it. blah. Time to break out the interval runs , iron mikes, goblet and pistol squats, pull ups, push ups, ets ets.
I forgot about the time I slammed a saturn into the back of an early 90's explorer at 40mph. I was out of the car and assessing the situation before it stopped moving. Walked away from that with a mild concussion and staples in my forehead :icon_rolleyes:
Damn my back is fuching blazed, tomorrow should be fun.
You're killing it, dude.
Were you doing a cut cycle before this? Don't take this as whiney, but I think your next cardiovascular training is gonna do you well.
I was thinking that your last thing was your gut pulling blood away too quickly after you drank a shake, not being used to the strain. But, I'm starting to think that you might need more total blood volume or lack oxygen-exchange efficiency, leading perfusion loss and making you shocky.
Or, you're just killing it.
I gotta hand it to you, man; can't question the dedication. Inspiring stuff!
If you hit hard enough to need staples, then you had a coup-contre-coup cerebral contusion (you bruised your brain on the side you hit, and the opposite). They call it a concussion cause most people know what that is, but I'm hoping to freak out a teenager or somebody when I start working.
Med-geek stuff, I guess, but maybe you can use it to pick up strange. :dunno_white:
Sometime in the next two weeks (things are supposed to get a little more lax at work) I'm going to start a cardio routine on days I don't lift. I'll probably start with a few spin classes and elliptical then work my run back in.
Staples in the forehead sucked. Bad. (OK, not as bad as titanium pins through my thumb) I've still got a gnarly scar there too so I'm not sure why I couldn't have just superglued the Buddha Loves You :dunno_white:
Vasculature running through your forehead. Supposedly, skin glue would have impeded their flow and given you partial facial paralysis. I dunno. Saw it on TV.
Not the most accurate of sources...
Speaking of which, the last ER is this week. 15 years, and they end it just as I decide to go pre-med. The universe hates me.
Heh heh, spin classes. You might find that sponsor you've been hoping for. (Snicker, snicker...)
Or, they wanted to charge me 1500 to put a few staples in my head and rip em out 2 weeks later...........
That sucks about ER, but it sucks even more that the creator died.
There is some serious tail in the spin classes at my gym, it'll be a good thing.
Rows, Shrugs, and Close-grip Military Press. My back is blazed.......again and my triceps are spasming. I peak rep'd 230 on the row and stayed light on shrugs because I left my straps in the locker (only went up to 505) Stayed at 115 for higher reps on the CGMP's, gotta figure something out because it put a lot of stress right on the thumb I fuched up. Actually the first time in the last 6 months I've had any real pain out of that thumb.
A piece of neoprene foam, maybe.
Why are you doing them close grip? How much tricep focus would you lose with normal spacing? Maybe make up for it with skull crushers.
Massive difference in tricep isolation between a normal grip and close grip. It's insane. I think I'm going to hit a medical supply store and see if they have a splint that I could make work. :dunno_white:
interesting. How does it hurt, and where? (Just as a learning experience for me, not so I can attempt to give advise.)
The exercise or the thumb?
The exercise isolates the triceps brachii almost exclusively while obviously still using the deltoids.
The thumb is that deep dull bone pain you get when you break something, but it subsided within an hour
You're worried about the pins? Where are they placed? Obviously, not across the carpometacarpal joint. Somewhere around the epiphyseal line or head of the metacarpal, with a plate?
Bone will strengthen itself, just like muscles, if given growth stimuli. This is interesting. I take it that the pain isn't from the pressure of the bar, but from the extension of the joint?
Might be indicative of a problem with articular ligaments inside the joint, they often are weaker after a dislocation.
Is there swelling?
I know I'm way off. Like I said, I just like the brain exercise.
Good luck with it.
Pins are gone. It was done closed by a very skilled surgeon. I haven't had any extension issues aside from a mild degradation in ROM and obviously in the early days there were atrophy issues. The pain is originating almost exactly where the break occurred.
Ouch.
Worried about a re-break?
It's possible, especially if this is the first time that you've stressed it since the accident. You probably know that bone builds up a thicker calcified region across and through the site where breaks occur. On long bones, rebreaks won't happen at the exact site, but right next to it - beside the thicker ring. That's if it's had enough time to fully heal. You probably know that.
On short or cuboidal bones, I dunno. That's interesting. Gives me something to ask about.
Don't take this as whiney or anything - you're teaching me something.
If you imagine the bone in a chicken leg: the knobs at the top with the cartilage reduces down to a long cylindrical section, and repeats at the bottom. Where the knobs reduce down, that's called the epiphyseal line. Did it break there, or toward the center? It begs the question in my mind: which section is weaker?
Bones like to split and splinter more than they like to actually snap, though. The osteocytes run longitudinally. So, the pain could indicate hair-line fractures, with a dull, sick-in-the-belly feeling.
Of course, you could have formed re-growth that's limiting your ROM, forming a fulcrum under stressed extension.
It's not a sharp and hot pain, so you know it's not cartilage. And, probably not stretched ligamenture.
That's a sh!tty site for a break, for a weightlifter.
Interesting, though. :icon_twisted:
It was almost exactly in the center at about a 30 degree angle. Doc said it was a fairly clean break and that was the only reason he was able to do a closed reduction.
It sucked, it was in a cast for the first week and a half and even then moving it would put pressure on the pin site so I ended up losing almost all of my hand strength.
It wasn't quite as bad today, but still noticeable.
peak rep'd 250 on rows, only went to 135 on CGMP and did some nice slow curls peaking on the 40's
Well, you bastard, you jinxed me.
I've either just broken mine or hypoextended the hell out of it. And d@mn near broke my tibia for good measure.
ouch! At the same time? What happened? someone throw you down a flight of stairs?
Motorcycle vs. road sign.
Don't cut the padding off the seat that runs up the tank.
Generally, you're supposed to abide by the instructions on road signs instead of running into them :dunno_white:
New # for today......500
No weights, bought a nice, clean Mossberg 500 and hope to get out to the range so I can waste some 12ga and .45 :icon_twisted:
Generally.
Whoever it was in that panel van didn't seem to mind, though.
I had f**king trip planned for next week, too.
Good choice, a used Mossy.
Try these for some fun:
http://www.deltaforce.com/catalog/12gaugeammo.html (http://www.deltaforce.com/catalog/12gaugeammo.html)
I put 20 shells of bird and 5 00 buck down range along with 50 rds of the crappiest of the crappiest .45 money can buy. Gonna pick up a bottle of clp and do some pm tonight.
Hitting the gym tomorrow after church, hopefully my thumb feels better or I'll be strapping up on damn near everything.
So, I come home from church to change and grab my gym bag. I unlock the door and hear water running...........and lots of it. Then I step in and the mat squishes. f%$king hose on the washing machine burst, apparently shortly after I left and flooded the place...... I spent about an hour with the shop vac getting as much of the water up as I could then grabbed a big dehumidifier to throw in and booked to the local IIEO to get new hoses.
I've done as much as I can and contacted the landlord, but he's got some problems............there's no surface water, but the floor in the kitchen squishes and some of the wood planks are popping up. >:(
not to make light of the situation...lol. But a giant shamwow might fix all of that...ok yeah...that sux.
Landlord has a nice surprise when he gets around to getting it fixed. The wood flooring in the kitchen is curling up and there was never any surface water in there >:(
Bastard said he'd get someone out today, but didn't.........
ATG: Pretty solid lift for calf raises.....peaked 10 reps @ 630
Just did a basic Tricep workout, nothing remarkable
Did my normal routine for shrugs and got a little fidgety so I threw on some plates bringing total weight to 945. No reps but I got it off the bar and held it for about 3-5sec while I tried to rep. The best part? When I jerked the bar off the hooks, the left side bearing crapped,......the race popped out and a few of the rollers followed, it's also rather nicely bent now :icon_mrgreen: I've got burst capillaries all over my wrists from the strap, my nose bled when I hit my 4th rep at 855 and I almost put the calf raise machine through a wall.
Picked up a new knife and ordered another. The one I got is just a simple little CRKT based on an AG Russel design 'sting' single forged piece of 1050 carbon steel~6 inches total. I ordered what amounts to the non-commemorative replica of the latest Rambo knife. I didn't want to dirty up a collector piece :icon_twisted:
f%$k!!!!!!!!
I feel like I've been hit by a goddamn truck.
THREAD JACK------ i got an injury to complain about. few weeks ago my oldest daughter and i were wrestlin round on the livingroom floor and she tried to jump over my arm as i tried to move my arm......(sounds weird but bear with me)...anyways. she lands on my hand, which at the time only my thumb is in contact with the floor...straight down....i feel an intense pain and hear a loud "pop" or "crack". i figured it was just jammed. swelling has gone down but it still hurts. (i'm not a pansy) the pain is mainly when i actually put pressure on my thumb, such as when twisting the cap off a soda bottle etc. or any other work that requires my grip. it hurts at all other times as well but the sharpest pain is when i use it. i'm tempted to go to the doctor but i know he'll probably look at it and tell me he doesn't have x-ray vision and send me for an x-ray. wouldn't i be best suited just to go to the ER, complain of thumb pain and get an x-ray? then see the doc? :dunno_white:
Tore your ulnar collateral ligament.
http://www.orthogate.org/patient-education/hand/ulnar-collateral-ligament-injuries-of-the-thumb.html (http://www.orthogate.org/patient-education/hand/ulnar-collateral-ligament-injuries-of-the-thumb.html)
Wanna check? Look at the back of your hand, and squeeze the knuckle by the sides. The inside (ulnar = towards the ulna) should hurt like a sonofab!tch.
The pop was when the joint dislocated, which tore the ligament. Happens a lot.
An x-ray is a good idea, though.
Wrap it with an ace bandage and don't do things that need you to grip. Ligaments are slow to heal; using it slows it down even more. Give it about two weeks.
Wish I had checked here yesterday.
+1 to Wladziu. You'd know if it were broken. Still, torn tendons suck.
How'd the thumb and all turn out from your impromptu meeting with the traffic control device?
Went down to pick up the UC Hibben 4 machete (last Rambo knife) and had em send it back. Chinese hunk of sh!t. You'd be better off actually making one out of an old leaf spring.
I'm on the hunt now for a Chris Reeve PS.
How'd you think I knew what his problem was? :icon_mrgreen:
Sure wasn't from my half-@ssed undergrad anatomy class.
No breaks, just tissue damage. I can breathe better, so the pulmonary contusion's healing. The mirror snapped at the base instead of leaving a peg, which is great. Interesting design.
Plus, they put my new sign up yesterday, with a big orange reflector in the middle. I'm gonna throw it a party or something.
That's some expensive stuff he's selling. $185? Guess you gotta be pretty into it.
thanks for the reply. i didn't think it was broken. i was just concerned that i still had pain after almost 3 weeks.
glad to see you're on the mend, but next time, stop before trying to read the signs...... :icon_mrgreen:
spc-how's the flooding situation?
CRK prices are actually pretty cheap for the quality of knife you get. There's a knife and gun show dealer that lives on the island that has one in stock and said he could meet up later tonight if I want to take a look at it.
You should buy a cheap piece of metal from HD and paint 'Don't hit this sign with a motor vehicle' on it and bolt it to the post.
The flooding? f%$king landlord hasn't done anything about it and we're going on day 5 that he's known. The house is starting to get musty, a shaZam! ton of boards have popped up and I'm probably going to check out some other places to live this afternoon.
Hitting the gym this evening, probably not going to break any more bars though. I'm probably going to focus on pecs and arms.
Bought the knife, off to the gym!!!
repped 270 in plates on rows, nothing astonishing past that.
New addition to the nightstand
(http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w317/spcterry/crkps.jpg)
Easter is great! Well, as long as you aren't Jesus, then it sucks.
I watched History channel almost all day (took breaks for church and a few other errands)
Slightly on topic: I jumped in the Pcar and sped down the road towards Savannah to a little stand that always has the best stuff ever. (I picked up a Boston Butt and 4lbs of shrimp that were swimming this morning) On the way there, I noticed a mazda 3 that had apparently taken the traffic circle a little faster than the driver could handle and run up onto the exterior median just enough to get it stuck with one wheel on the grass and one on the concrete. On my way back they were still there so I stopped and had the kid (couldn't have been much more than 16 and looked like he knew his parents were going to kill him) steer and managed to push it far enough to get it unstuck and then pull it completely off the road. Not much body damage, but it was leaking oil pretty bad and the CV was completely trashed so he ended having to wait for the tow truck.........just in a slightly safer place. (some jackasses in Porsches like to take those things at 60+)
The knife is ridiculously light and completely invisible in a jean pocket. I've cut everything I can find with it and it's still razor sharp.
Gym at 0800!!!!!!!!
who makes that knife?
Chris Reeve. tad pricey, but you get what you pay for.
What .45 did you wind up with terry? Is that a springer or a RIA?
It's an RIA. I figure I'd get that to break me into the 1911 world, but I kinda like the little (ok, big) sh!t so I'll probably keep it around for a while. I have this funny notion that a taurus judge might be my next purchase.
Feck me Tel......if you got picked up in public with a toolkit like that over here you would be looking at a minimum of 5 years.
that is vary nice my friend, vary nice indeed. there is something to be said for being able to throw big bullets down range. is that a single stack mag? i hhought about a 1911 but i ended up with a S&W MP-40 15+1
Yeah I remember you asking about the RIA's now. Great .45's for the price. Need to pick up a couple of blades I need a necker and a couple of clench picks for hideouts. Think I'm gonna go with a coldsteel Tanto as my straight blade since I'm a dealer for them now. Yep Jetboy it's a single stack. I couldn't stand the feel of the m&p.
Here's one thats had just a little work done to it with over 5k down the barrel flawlessly. http://okshooters.com/forums/showpost.php?p=607772&postcount=8
I carry either a tauras pt1911 or a para ordnance p10-45. Depends on what I'm wearing. Sledge police here where I live don't even blink when you hand them your permit, they'll usually talk guns and BS with you for a minute or 2 then send you on down the road.
Cold Steel makes an awesome blade, especially for the price. If you're OK with spending a few bucks, the Chris Reeve PS (the one I just bought) makes an awesome neck knife. The knife itself is dead on 3oz and the kydex sheath is a hair under so you're talking less than 6oz total. I carry it in my pocket most of the time and it makes absolutely 0 print. In the next few weeks I'm either buying the Chris Reeve Yarborough, Pacific or Neil Roberts (name for the first SEAL to die in Afghanistan) They are all equally capable tactical fixed blades.
So you're a cold steel dealer????? I've been thinking about grabbing one of their machetes, I'll let you know when I drop the hammer on that.
No duty to inform here so you don't even have to tell the popo that you're carrying.
Yep, it's an 8rd single stack Wilson Combat int that picture. Honestly, if you can't drop your target in 9rds of .45..........well, you're fuched.
Sledge, if I lived in your country I would absolutely abide by the law.............and be an incredibly restless young man.
Anyone else going to a tea party wednesday?
Yeah I gotta scrape together enough to make a wholesale order still for my first order then I can reorder with only a $250 minimum. We have some laws on carrying knifes that preclude carrying a standard combat knife blade shape. no bowies, dirks or daggers. The tanto being single edged and not having a the classic bowie shape of a k-bar makes it ideal plus as thrusting blade it's ideal fore the gross motor skill movements taught in most self defense combat courses.
I have a cousin down by charleston want's us to come visiit this summer but it pisses me off South Carolina isn't reciprocal with our permits. I can carry in every state from here to their but have to stop at the border and unload em. Oh yeah the wifes permit is in, need to get her to take some force on force training classes with me, I could use the refresher and she could use the training.
Speaking of which you going back in the service or planning on hooking up with a civillian contractor?
Ok rambling on now if the wife and I head out east this summer we'll give you a shout.
South Carolina SUCKS for CWP. There are 2 people in the state that process them and one was fired like 6 months ago and they've yet to hire a replacement. We're a 90 day shall issue, but it's taking them 120+ if you don't Buddha Loves You to a Senator :icon_mrgreen: Doesn't New Hampshire issue permits to non-residents that are valid in like 30 states? I think it's like $500 in filing fees though.
That sucks about knife restrictions :cookoo: Don't have that BS here. OK would probably frown on this little gem
http://www.chrisreeve.com/pacific.htm That's the one of the three that I'm leaning towards the most.
I'm still toying with a few ideas, but I'm going to hit a few more fitness goals before I go anywhere. I am obsessed at this point. The Army is waiting with open arms, but I'm talking to a few others. One of my lift buddies was recon and he keeps trying to get me to go MC. I've given it a lot of thought, but the real killer is the longer training that would be just enough time for me to lose a ton of mass :icon_confused: If I can get my run in check, I'd be eligible for Ranger school. Dunno, like I said I've got a few more goals to hit first. The fun hasn't even started yet. Afcrapistan is just going to get hotter over the next few years, NK seems intent on reopening a half century old conflict and god knows what would happen if China called their loans.
Lift was all arms today. Tricep extensions, reverse grip curls and wrist curls. Stayed pretty even on triceps.........12 sets of 10-30 weight from 120(warm up) to 150 (3x30 peak)
reverse grip curls, 10 count coming down. 10 sets of 10 from 50-90.
wrist curls, 8 sets of 10-20 peak at 20x155.
Yeah that's a sweet knife but that clip point is just too bowie esque to risk. I'd take one in a heartbeat though when I get to buying stuff just because I want it not because I am in need of it.
There's a group out of united states shooting academy here in tulsa putting together private security teams for counter piracy operations. They already have some heavy duty private security operations up and running. Wish I was 20 years younger and knew then what I know now. I would signed on that dotted line gone 11B and shot for my goals, done my 20 then collected my retirement and played in civillian life with the private contractors.
Anti-piracy isn't going to pan out. Shipping co's aren't going to drop the kind of dough PS commands when their insurance will just cover any losses and USN will swoop in to save the day. Those SEALs set a precedent that's going to be hard to back out of now. I'm not terribly fond of water anyway, but put me in the mountains and I'm a happy man. I love going to Pine Mtn GA just north of Benning and laughing my ass off about half way up when I pass all the Ranger wannabe's that are half dead. The trail is a bit of a killer (23 miles and you end up climbing a total of 15k feet because it winds up and down the mtn side so much)
I've got a few friends that are heading out on voluntary in the next few months, they're making me jealeous :icon_confused: Patience is the key here, if I hold out and hit my PT goals I'll have a lot better shot of earning one of these when I go back in

I know 2 guys who recently washed out of selection, both because they weren't physically strong enough. (both had 300 APFT's)
Good friend of mine is a retired Lt. Colonel, he did a hitch as an enlisted then got his college degree and went back in as an officer. His enlisted years were pre SFAS he wound up tasked Delta for 2 years said he loved it then he got out to save his marriage, long story short on day 91 of his seperation from service she filed for divorce. So the offer of another stripe (E7) was no longer there he was gonna have to start again. He finally got his degree, in just over 5 years so he had to do Boot all over again when he went back in. He did 10 of the last 12 days of SFAS with a compund fracture of the meta tarsals in his left foot, they finally pulled him on medical when the foot was swollen so bad that he couldnt get the largest boot made on his foot. He woke up in the hospital and they wanted to amputate his leg the infection was so bad. He couldn't afford to recycle through SFAS because of his age he needed to make rank fast to stay in so he went off and wound up with a really odd career.
I love hearing the little 'kids' at the Army recruiters office talk about how bad ass they're gonna be and how they're going to be just fine if they get the 18x contract. They must've missed the page of data indicating that the average q course grad is 26.
The old school SF guys are awesome. I got a taste of that in BCT, we had a Top who enlisted just a few years after Vietnam ended (enlisted at 17) and got trained by all the Vet SF'ers. He was one crazy fool, but a really great leader.
Did my first bench press competition. ROFL!!!! it was sad...so sad. I got disqualified. Oh well, there's always next year.
I HATE bench!!!!!!! HATE IT, HATE IT, HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What did you press/attempt?
Didn't go over 495 on shrugs today, my grip was fuched from working my forearms. Blasted the hell out of my forearms and got a decent calf workout in, peaked 110 reverse straight bar curls with a 5 count coming down.
:D :D :D :D :D :D
It's official, 40 plates, 8, 25lbs and a near hernia later........ I can leg press a fuchin ton!!!!! My ass, back and legs have hit a level of soreness previously unknown.
25 set w/o straps on shrugs, working for reps......ended up with near 1k reps from 225-405.
Triceps, I peaked out 20 repping 240
Incline bench >:( 8 sets of 10 @225
Church and shooting range is all I have planned for tomorrow.
I spent a god AWFUL amount at the range. Put 200rds down range and even the cheapest .45 is $21/box. :icon_confused: I took it out to 30yds for 50rds and every one hit solidly inside the 3rd ring. Gotta get different sights, between the haze of gunpowder and low lighting, acquiring the sight takes a lot longer than I'd like. Got yelled at for double tapping :icon_rolleyes: I've got about 1000rds through the RIA without an f2f. Not bad for a cheap weapon. Came home reeking of gun powder, grabbed my 'ammo-can-o-PMCS' and did some cleaning on the back porch while enjoying a beer. (sharpened up the spyderco a little too, it's been on cardboard duty and needed a fresh edge) Life is good.
Thus the reason I reload, the price of .45 ammo. Wifes CCW class sucked they gave em less than a minute to police their brass when they were done firing. She brought home 7 out of 50 casings. I was a little peeved.
Reloading may be in my future, but first I'm going to find a good gun club. I'm sick of paying the range $20/hr and having to buy their ammo.
On Topic:
Just under 3 hours tonight. 40 sets shrugs w/o straps pyramid build up/down peak 405. Tricep Extensions, rep'd 240.........hit muscle failure................twice........in 20 sets....10 at peak weight. Did a 25 minute cool down on elliptical at 180 SPM.
yeah, i HATE bench too. especially their stupid form. lower to chest, HOLD FOR 1 SECOND, press, then HOLD some friggin' more, then rack. so....needless to say, not much. heheheh. but a lot for a chick. I will leave it at that. LOL
I've been out of the gym at Docs request for a few days and decided to not do any back work today just to keep neck strain down. Did 15 warmup and 15 cool down on elliptical, about 30 minutes of bag work with 20's, reverse grip curls and behind the back wrist curls.
I could barely grip the steering wheel on the way home :icon_mrgreen:
Joined a small, semi-local gun club that's out in the boonies. Shot a little skeet, put 100rds through the 1911, tried a Glock 36 out. Pretty impressed with the glock as a concealed, though it takes a little getting used to from a 1911 since it's about 1/2 the weight. When I ultimately buy a more concealable piece it is definitely in the running and has a huge price advantage of my other option, an HK USP compact.

WHOA!!!! thats a little ridiculous. Ay my local outdoor range of awesomeness , knob creek range, you pay $12(i think, could be 10) for all day. $12 open to close. And your own ammo. woot woot. Gotta love KY. :woohoo: :woohoo:
The place I go now is 300 a year in dues, unlimited use 24hrs a day, very private, 2 locked gates, and only 150 members.
Terry, you're more up to speed on the current supplement market.
I'm trying to find something with 500 or so mg of L-tryptophan, hopefully with a B complex and maybe tyrosine, omega-3s, and DL-phenylalanine. Know of anything, besides simple protein increases and turkey?
Either that, or straight shots of serotonin. By the gallon. I wanna drown my limbic system into submission.
Something with moderate glucose concentration would be nice. The insulin helps the amino acids past the blood-brain barrier.
All the L-tryp supplements were pulled from the market by manufacturers in the early 90's. Generally speaking, it was deemed a bad idea. Googling you can find a few that appear to still be supplying it in the US (you may or may not get something with actual tryptophan content, these are the people supplying 'prohormones') or you can order from a Chinese or British site. There are no legal problems, as the FDA never took any action.
Think it'll help with giving up the smokes? Hell it just might. :dunno_white: :dunno_white:

Close.
I read about it being pulled from the shelves, but I thought it had been corrected. It was incorrectly recalled because Japanese suppliers had contaminated a supplement batch ( :icon_rolleyes:).
Guess I'll go back to supplemental protein until I find a trustworthy supplier. I'm still trying to find the correct dosage, anyway, without having to worry about blood testing. Some MD/PhD's are saying up to 2 or 3 GRAMS twice daily, some as little as 0.2 g.
You still a fan of St. John's Wart? What's the loading time?
How's the heavy lifting? Busted any more bars?
The SJW keeps pretty much just adds length to my fuse. I still lose it pretty bad, it just takes longer. I've given the crazy heavy stuff a rest because my neck got jacked in the wreck, I'm hitting a chiro tomorrow. I have however been focusing on my forearms a lot and put the heavy bag through a wall last week while doing weighted bag work. The gym owner got pissed and took it down, think I'm gonna buy my own and put it in the garage.
Par for the course, then.
When did you wreck?
2.5 weeks ago. My neck feels better now. I was in the attic changing the AC filter and there was a fuching possum up there. I freaked, jumped, hit my head on a fuching rafter and ran screaming like a little girl only to return later and shoot the SOB. I don't fuch with those little bastards, they can be mean as hell.
when i lived in arkansas i had one come into my house through the front door. i was back in my bedroom and apparently my brother in law didnt get the front door shut all the way. i was reading a magazine and heard something rustling around in my room. looked over and the little fucker was taking dvds off the shelf. i asked what the f%$k they were doing and where did it come from. just looked at me, then walked out. i grabbed the bat and followed behind. it ran into the bathroom and unfortunately was cornered so turned around, made some kinda battle cry and charged me. i got lucky with the first swing, dazing it well enough to swing again and kill it. had i missed the first time, well.....it might have hurt. it was only a juvenile but still, very, very aggressive when cornered. i was shocked at how fast it moved. :o
stomp on em. i hate em.
