Anybody have clip-ons on their bike? How epensive are they, and how easy are they to install?

89 model year came with clip ons as standard, mounted to top of top triple.

Suburban-Machinery makes a great handlebar (for the sv650, fits gs500 though) that gets you just a bit lower than that and they install in a few minutes to the standard handlebar configuration. Easiest way to get more aggressive position. Affects handling in a very positive way. About $130.

True clip ons can be installed (you need 37mm ones; cbr600/hurricane or fzr ones are easy swap) but they have to be installed below the top triple by slipping the fork tubes out. This makes for a very aggressive riding position that may be uncomfortable. If its a street bike you'll also have clearance issues between the clip ons and the bracket that the headlight ears attach to. About $35 but you may need to redo your throttle cables and brake lines (maybe not).

hope this helps...

my 89 had the stock clipons, yuck, too narrow from me the gorilla that i am. however in the box of parts that came with the bike(well one of the boxes) had aftermarket clamp type clipons, i put them on under the top clamps, and love them
