This topic http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=46656.0 got me thinking about the average number of miles a GS has on it right now and how that relates to the total number of miles the bike is capable of going. It would be handy to have some statistics on the number of miles a typical GS is likely to have on it, so I'm asking everyone to spend 30 seconds and to go look at your odometer and post the year of your GS and how many miles it has on it. For all the GS members out there in faraway lands that use the metric system, just tell me what units you're in so I can convert. If enough people post, I'll make some nice graphs of things like average number of miles on a GS by year, overall average, average number of miles driver per year and things like that... Wouldn't you like to know how you compare to the average GSTwins bike?
I'll go first with my two GSs:
1994 - 87612.5 miles
1994 - 24568.0 miles
i havent seen my GS in about 2 years but it had about 700 miles when i left it. its a 2006 model
2005 : 8808.8 miles
:thumb:
Mine's an '07 F-model with 9563 miles.
1996 13,500 engine was ruined by a friend of mine
2001 21,000 . still running strong
2005 6,535 miles
07'-Gs500f 5,478 miles.
My current 2002 GS just turned 67000 miles.
I put 80,400 miles on my 97 GS and JP ran it up to about 88k miles and put in a used low milage engine. The 97 GS has over 100k miles on it now.
Bought the 97 new and the 02 with about 4500 miles on it so I have about 142,900 GS miles on me. :thumb:
I had over 70k on my 90 untill the latest rebuild. now it has 71 new miles(not thousand, just 71) and waiting anxiously for spring.
Got my 06 exactly one year ago with 4300 miles, today there 26,800 miles.
2002 - 25,000
2005 - 11,235
96 - 30,000 :dunno_white:
Euro-spec 2001,
38100 kms of which 13400 with me as owner/rider.
Imperial figures: 23679 mi and 8328 mi respectively.
2005 GS500f, bought in June 2008 with 3294 miles, now has 8700 miles i think. weird that i remember the mileage i bought it with, but not the current.
2004 - 282 miles
1994, 18,223 miles. 5,000 of those miles are by me, the rest are from previous owners.
1991 - 16,400 miles
08: 8900miles
94 - 22746.8 (sitting here getting sanded in front of me haha
i did an hpi check a few weeks ago before i bought my 91 and it said in 96 it had 12,000 and seemingly in 2003 it had 919,000 miles, i think that the dvla have made a big mistake lol think it was supposed to be 19 so my 91 is at about 25,000
2000 GS500E: 11890
Should be doubled by next year. :)
2004 F bought with 5045 now has 9905! No issues yet!

I was feeling like a virgin for a second there until I saw jrains89's post. I still feel like I'm a little behind but oh well. 2001 with 6300 miles. 500 are mine.
I'm pretty embarrassed after seeing all these high mileage bikes... I guess I've spent more time working on mine than riding it.
6,473...
2,000 are mine since the spring of 2007
1989 with 3,945 genuine miles.
Thanks to everyone who replied so far! I now have data for 29 GSTwinner's bikes. More data would be extremely helpful, but here are some stats on what I've collected so far
Average mileage reported was 23912.28929 with a standard deviation of 25595.45932 (thank you GSJack), which is a really good indication that more samples are needed...
Average age of bike reported was 9.535714286 with a standard deviation of 5.827661642.
Average number of miles ridden per year was 3057.720263 with a standard deviation of 2769.413293.
Thanks again for everyone who posted data. The standard deviations show that this data is pretty much all over the place at this point, but hopefully if more people participate, things will start settling down and we'll get a better picture of what an "average" GSTwins bike looks like...
94 with 84347 km, so that's 52411 miles.
'06 F in the midst of a conversion to an E - 11,500 miles
had i known you were calculating standard deviation/propagation of error, i would have given an exact mileage.
1999 E with 14,780
93 - 33K
9000 miles on my 06 still running great craftierod
'94 model, bought in '02 with 8000 miles on it.
46,597.3 miles so far.
Average 10k per year.
Late 2006, about 13700 miles.
'07 5,900 mi.
'93 w/ 17,xxx
2006 - 27,000Miles All put on by me, from new.
black 2004 gs500f

9 941 miles
1998 -- 27,670 miles. I bought it in fall 2005 with 11,500 miles.
Just turned 10,000 it was really weird cause it happened right when I passed the dealership. An omen of things to come. But, I pulled over and snapped a pic!
