I can't wait till it's 48 deg (consistently) so that I can start riding again!

No ice on the road, temperature greater than 20 degrees F, I'll probably ride, but that's just me... :cookoo:.  At 48 degrees, I'd be absolutely giddy! I rode in one morning last week, it was 18 (but I don't think I'll repeat that!).  This morning's snow has put the kibosh on that idea for a while.

What do you wear for those low temp rides?

I rode it when it was 30 once and it took me a while to stop shivering.  (granted it was about 25 minutes on the highway and I wasn't really dressed for it.)

My ride is about 50 min each way, mostly highway.  On top, it's a T-shirt, Turtleneck, a light fleece, heavy sweater, and a gore-tex wind and waterproof shell (man, this thing's a beauty, but it's not insulated).  Underneath my jeans I wear a heavy pair of bicycling tights (they really help with the wind).  If it's below 30, I'll add a pair of gore-tex coveralls.  I really don't feel that uncomfortable, but I do tolerate the cold fairly well.  The only thing that sucks are my gloves - thinsulate and hipora (gore-tex wanna-be), but too light on the thinsulate.  I'll usually have to pull over once (sometimes twice below 25 degrees) to warm my hands on the motor.  Next year.... I'm getting heated grips!!!!

Go heated jacket and gloves!

Wear the jacket liner under a snowmobile suit.

You'll be warmer than people in their cars!   :D

The only thing that annoys me is the neck area.  I always end up with a numb chin as I have yet to find a product that really works for that area.  Haven't investigated all options yet, however.

haha no wonder you can ride in the cold.  I think I just had a long sleeve shirt and my mesh jacket (without the windproof layer in)!  I thought it was a lot warmer before heading out though.

I found a nice windproof balaclava Something like this: http://www.ems.com/catalog/product_detail_square.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442591514  and found that made a huge difference.  After I had gotten better winter gloves and put the layer in my jacket, the last thing that was still cold was my chin and neck.  This helped a lot.  Be sure it's windproof though.
