Title: Help decoding which model I have
Post by: Laloggia on March 04, 2009, 05:29:59 PM
Hello all,

I recently picked up a 1992 GS500e and was looking online at a few parts sites. When pulling up the parts, it has two options....one part # for a GS500e K/L/M/N or GS500e P/R/S/T. I have no idea which one i have. I took a look at the title and the only letter in the VIN # that would match is the M....can anyone shed some light on this?

All the web sites that are listing Suzuki part #'s give you these two options and have 2 different part #'s.

Hopefully this makes sense. Heres the site i'm referring to:

90% of the time, it doesn't matter. If it is from 1992, it is an E model and that pretty much does it. The only real difference within that year is California or non California model, and that only matters if you're looking at fuel system stuff, and even then, not that much. Which parts are you getting?

If your bike is a 1992 it's a GS 500EN.  If you're sure it's a "M" designation, then it's a 1991.  Could be a leftover 1991 purchased in 1992, that would explain it.  You can find whatever you want in the online Haynes manual here:  http://www.scribd.com/doc/7178815/Suzuki-GS500-Full-Service-Manual

Yup...Vin plate says manufactured in 1991, but title says 1992. I'm going with 1991.

Thanks for the helpful info  :D
