I also suggest painting the aluminum to match bodywork, as well as the grab rail.

nice.

Really? I think the grab rail and tail light plate accent the frame and forks, ect. It's different. But that's just my preference.  Either way, it beats that big, bulky eyesore that was there before.

NICE!!!

I was thinking of doing something similar.  I hope you don't mind if I steel it! (your idea).

The link didn't seem to work but I will try again later.  Are the lights incandescent or LED?

Also, it looks from the photo that the paint on your GS looks like a flat charcoal or black colour.  Is that the case or is it just the picture?

I wanted to do a similar paint job on my Katana fairing.  How did you do it?

The lights are incandesent.  I gave the wrong website above... I updated it but here it is again.....  http://www.rumbleimport.com

Also , check out their auctions here

As for my paint job.... about $25 including primer and Krylon Flat Black paint. Good if you want a clean , cheap job.  :thumb:

I had discarded my idea of painting my flat black but yours looks great, I'm going to have to reconsider now . . .

Like it the way it is too. Nice

Thanks!  I chose flat black because I wanted something cheap.  You see, as of right now, I only have about $1200 in the whole bike!  It's a 91' and bought it for $600 and all it needed was the carbs cleaned.  It  was a faded teal green with white wheels. Since then I installed a new fairing, sandblasted and polished the wheels , new tires, tails, paint, ect.

The Yamaha R1/FZ1 tail lights are an easy swap too if you're looking to update the light on the cheap. I got mine for 20 bucks on ebay.

I used automotive paint remover for the tank. Stripped it to the metal. It's not necessary though. The plastic I sanded thoroughly with 400 grit. I then applied about 5 coats Plasticote Aerosol Sandable Primer to all surfaces.  Lightly wet sanded. Then applied 4 coats of "Krylon Camoflauge Flat Black".  I heard they even make a better "professional grade" but I couldn't find it anywhere. It drys to the touch in about 15 minutes.

Well I have an R1 tail light comming but somehow I dont think its a improvement over a upside down stocker....Lets see how it looks...
Cool.

I like the "bullet" look. The flat stock lense does nothing for me, even upside down. The R1 light also has a clear underside like the stocker, so you don't have to worry about a license plate light.

Just a note. The twin lights from rumbleimport.com also have a clear underside for the license plate.

I paid $25 off of their ebay auctions. They had Carbon Fiber and Clear also. Just search "Twin Tail Lights" on ebay.
