I'm looking to make a sealed ETX14 fit in an '02. I got the battery bracket box cut up so it'll fit, but need to get a couple extra inches out of the battery cables because the negative and positive terminals are switched. Anyone know any tricks?
I came across this post: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=14335.0 (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=14335.0) but the link in Kerry's post to the "battery wire reroute" thread is dead.
I'm going to put one of these AGM batteries in my 02 GS, fits right in:

JP just ordered one so I'll wait to see how it works out first. ;)
Thanks! I looked everywhere and couldn't find an AGM that would drop in. This was the closest size I could find. It's about 3/16" wider, otherwise height and depth are the same.
I paid $70 for it at Meijer.

I think your battery is a better bet. I'm going to go ahead and order it and take the other one back, I'm not happy with the way it fits.
The link isn't dead, it just needs some editing. Change everything in the "dead" link to what is seen now. Things like T need to be Topic and so forth.

Thanks for jump starting my dead links.
Jack, I'll let you know how that battery works out for me. I went ahead and ordered it.
The Scorpion battery works great. Got it in and put about 500 miles on her on Tuesday.
I had some difficulty starting before, which was obviously the battery. I was having some weird stallout issues at idle that seemed to have resolved. I thought they were fuel/air issues. :dunno_white:
The specific gravity in my old battery cells was always on the low end just above 1.20, I guess it may have contributed.
The ETX14BS I dont believe I have tried, ETX12BS I ahve tried and you run the negative through the bottom of the battery box floor.
The battery GSJack posted may be a straight on replacement in the sealed variety. Rock on GSJack, the side ways ETX12BS is now history.
Cool.
Buddha.

Yeah, the ETX14BS is too big sideways or anyways, heighth and depth match, but its about 3/16" too wide and the terminals are backwards. I was going to chop up the battery bracket to make it fit, but Jack popped in with the Scorpion battery, which is just a straight drop-in sealed AGM battery with matching terminals. Cheaper to boot!
I ordered a Scorpion AGM battery Tuesday afternoon and my mailman delivered it Thursday afternoon, very good service from Oregon to Ohio by USPS and batterystuff.com. Put it in and it started right up. Fit like a glove.
