I have to ship stock turn signals to UTGUN yesterday... I have all 4 in a pile, he is getting 2. Out of the 4 stock signals 2 have a green and black wire and 2 have 2 solid black wires. Which ones go together? Both with green and black? Both blacks together? One green wired one and one all black wired one??? Maybe it doesn't matter? Thanks for the help... just want to make sure I am sending the correct signals.
I don't think it matters. I think the sets just show which ones are the front t/s and which ones are the rear. I can't remember which is which.
Could they be left side right side designations? I just picked up some Buell turn signals that seem to be marked as left and right side only so that the lens mounting tab always faces down, so it might be hard to distinguish the GS stock signals... I don't know much about the stock GS signals though, I only have them on my project bike, my daily driver hasn't had them in a long while, since long before I got it...
I'm pretty sure that the one with green wires designates which side of the bike they are on so you don't have to tear apart the harness to figure out where the wires run.
I just looked it up in my manual. Signals on older models all have black and black/white wires.
The newer ones have green and black/white for the right signals, and black and black/white for the left signals.
This online service manual has wiring diagrams for pre-1998 model years.

Thanks for the help guys!
The green and black are for the right had side of the bike. The other side should be blue and black by memory. I just changed my lights to led arrows. It dosent matter which way you put the in or on what side really.. The bulbs will work in any combination.
but
make sure hole on the lens of the indicator is facing down of you might get some electrical problems in the rain.
