There is a direct fit sealed battery for both the GS500 E and F and it's quite a bit cheaper than the one you found. I've had it for over a year and am completely satisfied. Surprised noone else mentioned it.

I will tell you what I would do........
Yuasa and Varta are regarded by many as the best makes of battery you can buy and for less than half that amount you can buy a YB10-LB2 from either maker that will drop straight in. Keep it topped up, fully charged, avoid exposing it to the cold for long periods and it will last for years. My Varta is in year 7 now and still going strong.

I just put one of these in my bike, and so far I'm satisfied with it. Ordered it on a Monday morning, and it was waiting for me when I got home on Thursday. Ten minutes on my Batterytender Jr and it was fully charged & ready to go.

gonna be kinda hard, im moving to lochgoilhead which is in the middle of nowhere, averages 2 degrees celcius and has no garage.

My bike's an '02, but the fitment guide at the bottom says 1989-2007.
This battery is pretty compelling. It's about the same price as a conventional battery and it comes with acid! :thumb: If I needed a new battery I'd go with the Scorpion. There are two advantages of going with a sealed battery. You don't have to add water of course, and you don't have to worry about the drain tube which can leak acid on your frame and eat-off the paint next to the rear brake lever and footpeg. I had to sand and re-paint my frame in that area because of it. When I bought the bike I thought it was from gravel or the rider's boot, but after looking more closely, I could tell they were not scrapes. I touched it, put my finger to my tongue, and sure enough, it was acid droplets that ate up the paint.
