I was driving home today past the dealer. I figured seeing as I'm here I may as well drop in. I have been meaning to see what the upgrade options are.
A test ride later and an afternoon playing all the local dealers off each other...
...I am now the proud owner of a new Honda CBF1000, $3500 below sticker price. Pick-up is monday. :thumb:
So unfortunately the GS is going up on the net shortly. It's been a great start to the first three years of my riding career, and with all the tinker-time it has brought me I will be a little sad to see it go. Of course only as sad as one can be with a new bike!
If you're lucky you might get a gratuitous photo out of me before I depart. So looooooooooong.....
WTF is CBF1000 ?
Pics, dear padwan.
Cool.
Buddha.

not to change subject but murf do you watch myth busters?
Yes...I've got my DVR set to record the series whenever it's on. I mainly just watch it for the explosions and the hot redhead, though.

is that a US of A available bike ?
interesting looking ride, prolly is allot more fun to torque around on :D
I think it's a fairly Euro bike. I saw loads of them when I was in France.
You can certainly see my GS heritage in it's geometry and seating position! It was instantly familiar.
They aren't listed on Honda's website, so I'm thinking it's yet another piece of coolness that's not available to us. But that's okay...we still have the V-Strom.
Looking at that pic again, the grab handles seem pretty strange.

I think the Honda Interceptor has the same grab bars.... but I don't feel like doing a search right now.

They just became available in Canada. It's a great machine. Sat on one at the dealership for a while. I'd have to say it has about the perfect ergonomic setup. Bar/seat/peg relationship is somehow magical and just right. In my opinion, this is the revival of the Universal Japanese Motorcycle (UJM).
Kudos. Nice machine. Ride safe.
very nice looking bike. Like the VFR only better.
Based completely on riding position/ergos, it seems like a cooler more powerful take on the Versys. :dunno_white:
I like it! Congrats!
Well, as promised here's a photo of the new lead sled...

It's been a couple of weeks since I took ownership and it keeps on bringing smiles. The extra weight certainly took some getting used to - it's 240kg dry as opposed to the GS's 180. But after 1000km of weekend twisties and the odd commute, it feels totally natural. The seat height is 3-position adjustable and losing 15mm made all the difference.
I'm loving the new found power - 100hp and 100Nm of torque. All coming on tap from 3000 rpm. This thing is like a steam train and taking a pillion is a dream.
I sold the GS the other day. It was kinda weird taking it for it's last lap, to check that everything was in order. It really showed me how familiar I had become with the new ride!
The GS has certainly been a good old guy - I have learned loads of valuable lessons riding it, a full-sized but lighter weight bike. Lessons that I use every time I take out the litre-bike. The GS is truly an excellent (and forgiving) platform for beginners.
I guess my time around here is probably going to taper off - so I only hope I have given back to the GS community as much as I have gained from it. You guys have a very special and unique resource in these forums, I have yet to find another online rider community that is more accomodating, helpful and entirely devoid of mindless arguing and wearisome false bravado.
...oh, and I also have a pristine set of black/silver '05 fairings if any of the Aussies would like to make an offer! 8)
