Title: GS500E parts compatibility?
Post by: Hawk996 on March 18, 2009, 08:27:50 PM
Will a GS500e 1989 headlight fit a 1999 GS500E?  Bike Bandit has different part numbers for the bucket, but only the last 2 digits are different?  The part number for the stays (tabs) is the same?

Thanks.

PS.  Soon I will post pics of my duel headlight and see if anyone wants to trade for their stock one....

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't.

I just put a 1989 on an 04 GS500F.  The only issue is that the F headlight has a "running light" plug, and there is no rubber grommet on the back of the headlight/assembly to keep water off the contacts for the light.  The light is also a one-piece - reflector is part of the bulb.  As long as you have the fork tube brackets, there is no reason it won't fit.

Yes, it should fit. My bike has some random Yamaha headlight from the 70's on it. Anything that's about 7" in diameter will fit.

Yes it will fit direct bolt on.
