Title: custom headgasket
Post by: gabordi on March 18, 2009, 08:32:23 PM
Hi, I'm new to this forum,

I'm about to finish the 555 kit on my bike and I wonder how do you guys did to fit the headgasket? Is there any way to grind the oem gasket (I got a new one from a gsket kit) or I have absolutly no choice besides buying a custom onfrom cometic?

Thanks a lot
Gab

Go with Cometic copper gasket. Modifying a stock gasket will work, but not sure how long it will last. I had to modify one for temporary use until I got a copper gasket. It was only used for 1 track day. Nice thing about the copper gasket is that they are reuseable.

Since copper is a soft metal, don't you have to keep retorquing the head bolts?

Never had a problem with retorquing them.

I used a drum sander in a drill press.
