I'm in the process of selling my fiancee's '99 GS500E that I customized for her and I have taken off the T6 aluminum lowering links and custom side stand that I made for the bike. The lowering links drop the bike a couple of inches (my fiancee is 5'1" and had no problem flat footing the bike). The side stand was a stock stand that I bought, chopped two inches out of the middle, TIG welded in a steel tube to strengthen it and put it all back together with gloss black paint. You can't even tell the stand is any different than the stock one, except for it being shorter.
I am looking to get $100 (I pay shipping to the lower 48) for the links and stand. Please contact me at balloonguy (at) protwister (dot) com as I do not come on this board very often. I will post pictures when I return home this evening.
***New Pictures Added 3/29/09
You can see where the side stand was TIG welded if you look closely on the left hand side of the picture.

Lowering the front end would work, you may notice the handling/steering maybe a little twitchy. Lowering the rear actually made the bike more stable as it gave a little more rake out on the front end.
okay, now that I know it will work, how do I go about doing it? thanks rodeo

Geez, talk about thread hijacking :icon_rolleyes:
Just loosen the bolts on the upper and lower triple clamps and slide the fork tubes up. Good luck!
atleast its keeping your thread at teh top gl with the sale.
my girlfriend bought an 07 500f that the dealer lowered for her, but they did not change the stand so it's not the most stable thing to park. would you be willing to sell the stand seperatly?
I may sell the stand if someone is willing to buy the lowering links separately. In my mind buying both is the ideal situation because the stand was made to fit precisely with the lowered suspension.
If nothing sells soon I may take you up on your offer.
that would be cool.. i'll be in the market for it, so let me know if you have a change of heart
