Title: New area maybe?
Post by: Toogoofy317 on March 26, 2009, 06:39:32 PM
I was thinking we've been getting a lot of gear question's lately and such esp since the new riding season is shortly under way.

Can we do either a new heading just for gear or at least a stickie. I love talking about what gear I have works for me and such but I think it's be much better if some could just look up info on a specific item. Like we've been talking alot about tank bags well instead of having to say seven times how good my recon 19 is. Can't we just do a write up of it and have it in a special place where someone can just go to the gear topic then see tank bags then the write up about the tank bags we have!

That way I could do a full write up of my shoei Rf-1000, my gx-air jacket, fox bomber gloves, suzuki riding pants, frank thomas boots, recon tank bag, and saddle bags.

Just a thought. What do you guys think?

why not just start a gear post
post all you want about gear
review your stuff
make recommendations
and what ever

instead of making the mods write code so you could do the same thing in a special place

there's no code writing involved.  it's all done by clicking a few buttons and giving the new section a name - it might take 30 seconds.

The reason I was thinking an area rather than a thread it is easier to sift through instead of having all gear in one thread have each item it's own thread that way it's not 200 pages long and you have to go through all of it. I know many times unless you know exactly what to type in you get stuff you don't want in the search function.

Don't think it would be too tough to do right?

Just my thoughts

OUCH That hurt! But, yeah I'm really dying to write up some reviews on my gear! I love my stuff and want to share the Pros and the Cons and would love to hear what other gear is like! I want to put pictures everything so we can be one of the best sites around. awww heck we already are the best site but things to make it better I'm 100% willing to contribute to!

SOOOOOOO YAY or NAY. If there is a possibility Iwouldn't mind keeping it up and in order. So, I'd volunteer to try and maintain it. I mean I'd love for this to be my baby.
I wanna write these articles but I don't want them lost to the solitary threads and it never gets read.

Amazing we can get a track area in one day!

I mean not everyone races but everyone uses gear. I mean people said it'd be great but I get ignored.

where is the love  :dunno_white:

Another forum I visit, I think it's the UK bandit forum has a section on gear and I have found it useful on occasions. Perhaps widen it to gear and accessories and we could include things like sat-nav and add-ons as well.

Well yeah that's what I'm getting at. Do a write up on helmets, speakers, jackets, nav units, pants, boots, saddle bags, tank bags, digital clocks, gps mounts and anything that could use a good user write up.

I mean instead of waiting for days to have everyone comment see if someone wrote a write up and what others put in and then you get more specifics and it keeps everyone from  having to go over and over about these things. Thinking in just the past week I think I posted pics of my tank bag three or four times if I just did a good write up could have saved everyone some time then they could ask specifics on the item in question. I would also like to update the product occasionaly for wear and tear and other such things.

I think it's a good idea, I'll mention it on the moderator's area if it has not already been picked-up and see where it goes.

for what it's worth:

I ride with a Icon Mainframe helmet, Teknic Chicane gloves, army surplus store jacket, and caterpillar steel-toe boots... on my black/silver gs500fk5.

everything else is subject to change.

Cool I can't wait. I think I may take my time and do a couple of write ups on word in anticipation!

Thank you thank you!

Eh, I could go either way on this. I'm lazy, and reading everything in one place is easy... Look at the meet and greet forum, it gets no love. I fear that a gear specific forum would be the same way...

Amazing how the track day gets soo much love. but, I dunno posting the same answers to the same questions seems to be getting old.

With the meet and greet honestly felt a little odd to me. I felt a bit uneasy maybe because I'm female but I was a little scared to ride with someone I had never met. I mean after I've been on for awhile and gotten to E-know some people I feel more comfortable meeting up to ride. Also, with the meet and greet how much can you actually do it? Gear you use it everytime you hop on the bike wouldn't you like to know if it is good before you spend hundreds of dollars on it?

I really think this would be more visited than the track one. If you're too lazy you just won't know what good gear there is out there that's all your choice! Btw Fred how much have we talked about the Rapid Transit Recon 19? SEEE!
