Title: Camfloat...
Post by: dorris1988 on March 30, 2009, 06:38:25 AM
Ive heard gs500's have problems with the camfloats...
My bike gained a knocking sound this week and i got my mechanic to have a listen and he told me it was the camfloats...
He said this isnt a problem and doesnt do any damage or affect the engine in anyway..
Anyone got this problem or know anymore about this?

Yeah, most people in here know about camshaft float and plenty of owners experience it. But your mechanic is correct, it has no adverse effects. Later models were modified to remove the problem.

Do a search, its a popular topic and you will find plenty on the subject

well there isnt any point if its not going to damage it or cause any problems. its an old bike... gives it some character..
but just out of curiousity how much are we talking to get it fixed? because eventually when it comes to selling it its going to be a bit of information i need to state to the buyer.
