Title: Windshield / fairing on a naked bike with clip-on bars
Post by: 5thAve on March 30, 2009, 09:47:14 AM
Lots of windscreens provide for fitment to tubular handle bars, but my '91 E-model has cliip-on style bars (like the '89 U.S. model). If you're running clip-on bars and a windscreen, what type 'screen do you have, and how did you mount it? (Pictures are welcome). Maybe we can generate this thread as a resource for future use.  I expect I'll see some Ducati monster flyscreens here. What else have GStwinners come up with?  :icon_mrgreen:

Clip on's have no room to fit those clamps ... that is ... unless ... maybe ... someone were to fab you bars with maybe 2 in extra room ...  O0
You wouldn't happen to know someone who can go do that ... do you ...  :icon_mrgreen:
For angle, placement etc etc, no clue.
Cool.

My bike still has OEM bars, but my flyscreen is attached to the headlight casing's bolts.
Pic here (aka my current avatar, click to enlarge):

I have the f-18 and it also doesn't connect to the bars. it is attached to the headlight housing brackets.  From what I've seen, only larger windscreens have attachments to the bars.  if you go with a smaller flyscreen than you can avoid that problem.

dchrist, I wish you would've made that offer a few months ago. those things are harder to find than you would think.

5th ave has a huge pile of stuff accumulating at my house. I think I am a defacto clearing house of sorts.

I am gonna start charging him storage ...  :icon_twisted: ... especially on the kat shock he bought. Somehow I managed to upgrade that shock (bone headedly I sold, and when I bought one it was an improvement over the old one I had set out for him, so like its working in his favor too.
Anyway, I have a feeling he was after a big fairing.
Cool.

no big deal man.  I think although the buell screens look better, the f-18 should deflect more wind.
