Title: Piston Ring Compressor
Post by: Adam Fraser on September 25, 2003, 10:05:14 PM
Is the GS hard to get the piston in the cylinder without a ring compressor?  All of the two strokes I have done were fairly easy to get the rings compressed by hand and just slide the cylinder over the piston/rings, just wondering if the GS was the same or if I needed a go get a ring compressor (I know, I'm cheap)  . :)

cut the bottom out of a coffee can, then cut straight up the side, set one edge inside the other. now with  2 hose clamps of good size, you can compress the rings and bump the piston down inside the cyl. i have done this with 400 Cummins diesel on down to 30cc Chainsaw, just use cans will no ridges, no ripples. and correct size for piston.
