This might seem kinda dumb but I can't locate my Clymers' right now so.
I seem to remeber it saying that chain tension should allow about 1/2 inch - 1inch slack or something like that. My question is should that be the slack with the sidestand down and the weight on the tires or with my fat ass on the bike?
If the bike is on the sidestand the slcack is about 1/2-3/4 inch right now, but with my weight on it the chain is pretty tight.
Just curious.
Jake
It should be on the centerstand, 20-30 mm slack
It should be on the sidestand in the middle of the chain and slack should be no more than 2" and no less than 3/4" I think was the min.
:? :? :?
huh, my Haynes says it should be on centerstand, I have it right in front of my nose
My acme manual say that you have to on top of a large bluff???
:)
1 to 1 and 3/8ths inch, on the sidestand.
Mine doesn't really apply because of my modified rear suspension. I have t sit on it and make sure it doesn't bind and be careful that there isn't too much slack. Too much slack goobered up my last sprocket and the the new aluminium one isn't going to be as forgiving.
