Title: Air Filter
Post by: Jonesy on April 09, 2009, 12:54:32 PM
Hi Guys,
I have a a '04 GS500 F that I love. I want to clean the air filter but can't work out from the other posts exactly where it is.
Please can anyone help?
Also does anyone know a good U.K. breaker for spares?
Cheers!
Andrew

ok here you go.  if its the stock air box take your seat off thenat the back of the gas tank there are 2 12mm bolts one on each side of the tank where the seat covers the side of the tank.  take those out.  now some prop the tank up some take the tank off. its up to you how you do it.  if you want to take the tank off.  lift the tank from the right side and look under the tank past the drain line to the tank mounted petcock.  you have to reach through with a flat screw drivers and turn the gas off then take the lines off.  then lift the tank off. under the tank is the stock air box.  theres 4 screws holding the air filter in the air box.  take those 4 screws out and pull your air filter.

One more thing to add to these instructions: don't turn the gas tank too far toward upside down or you'll spill gas all over yourself. Also, if you want to put it down, you'll need something to prop the front of the tank up so the tank mounted petcock doesn't get crushed. I like to use either the corner of my toolbox or an aerosol can, I usually have one or the other on hand and I rarely need both at the same time...

There are loads in the UK and they are all pretty much the same service wise, use google to find one local to you and always ALWAYS  haggle over the price.  If I had to make a recomendation I would say use these.... http://www.cheshiremotorcyclesalvage.com/   but you will have to add on delivery costs........ Alternatively ebay is an option, its full of people breaking their MOT failures and looking to make a few quid.
Uk dealers are holding fewer and fewer spares for the GS5, its been discontinued and the numbers left and its popularity are rapidly dropping so mail order can be just as quick and probably more convenient. This is probably the cheapest and place in the UK for spares at the moment and they deliver next day.
http://shop.wemoto.com/index.dyn?flag=17&make=Suzuki

I have collected shed-loads of GS5 parts over the years, what are you looking for? If I have got it I am open to offers.
