Title: wanna freak the hell out of people? ya, do this
Post by: darb85 on April 19, 2009, 07:06:53 PM
or rather dont, was an intresting day yesterday.

So it was georgous out and I decided to ride. barrowed a friends bike, as i was leaving i realized i had to go to the bank.  got off the bike pulled out the check i needed to deposit, had my hands full so i waited till i got inside to take off my helmet, which didnt happen until I got to the little deposit table.  So there i am in full leathers(2 piece suit) a helmet, standing at the deposit table filling out the form,  then I decide to take off my helmet.  as I begin to do so I hear a voice asking me to stop and place my hands on my head. :dunno_black: :icon_eek:  Thininking it was one of my friends i proceed to lift off my helmet and am there after flattened on the floor by a cop who easily weighs 300 pounds and built like a line backer, and am cuffed. now Ive never ever EVER been in legal trouble other than tickets.

After being dragged downtown(all of 2 miles)  the little town that i live in and explaining that i had no intention of robbing a bank they drove me back to my bike.

apperently as soon as i walked in with my helmet on they called the cops, Precinct is 2 miles from the bank, took all of 2 minutes to get there.

So that was intresting, just thought id share.

Yeah that will do it. My bank has a huge sign that says remove hat and sunglasses before coming into the building. I always always take my helmet off before entering a building. Once, in a while I will go through the security gate at work but I work in security and we know each other LOL.

Not the brightest of ideas I might add. At least you didn't get tasered! Or worse many bank security gaurds are now armed!

Didnt even think about it honestly, I live in a pretty small town, and have walked in while taking off my helmet numerous times.  Very dumb.  and yes I am lucky I wasnt tazed.  And I seriously thought it was my friends because thats how we screw around.  Sheesh.  haha.  fun story though!

I wonder how well a taser would work on a guy with full leathers?  Although plan b would be to use the 9mm which will handle leather just fine... :embarassed:

Also, how does The Stig use a bank?  Maybe they're more relaxed in the UK (yeah right...)

All the banks around my neighborhood have airlock style doors that you have to go through one by one. There is a metal detector in the space between doors and a guy watching. If you set off the detector or they don't like the look of you, just just lock you in the tiny space between doors and wait for the cops to get there. They won't even let you in if you are wearing a hat they feels hides too much of your face from their cameras. It is really annoying.

Wow Fred that sucks.   On the other hand I would love to be the guy in charge and screw with my friends.

Actually, I think those hooks would get through an average piece of leather. At least if it's in the back then your back protector will take the brunt of the force. I think though you would still get some shock if it didn't permeate (sp) the skin. If you do get tazed pray you have a nice officer and EMT. Some will take you to hospital and have it taken out with lidocaine so it is bearable. But, usually you've already done someting to piss them off I.E why you got tazed. If that is the case the EMT (me in many circimstances) just rips them out. Just imagine having three fishing hooks in your back and someone rips them out one by one. Also, know these are not designed to come out because offenders would rip them out when they didn't have the barb on the end.

We had a guy at Universal hit a scaricature and went running OPD told him to stop or I'll taze. Dude started to sprint officer shot hit him in the back and he was down faster than gravity I swear. Pissed himself too that was funny! How would you like to be taken to the 33rd St. Bed and Breakfast after pissing yourself! I love watching idiots get tazed but when the officer yells tazer tazer tazer. I'm gone an accidental hit could kill me. Before our shift together I let my officer know that. Ahh, fun times in security. Honestly, I was amazed we had no tazings during the Nelly concert on Saturday! Mardi Gras is over YIPEEE! Now it is grad bash time to deal with snot nosed teenagers. UGH.

Think of the children ! Remember 9-11 ! Mission Accomplished ! Don't taze me bro !

and other dumb scare tactics come to mind. Anyone with half a brain can read body language and know you're not about to rob a bank. Stupid cops. Stupid security guards. Stupid alarmist idiots.

********

walking in to pay for gas with a helmet on freaks out some clerks. i just look at them like they're crazy and continue on.

man, this is a really dumb planet.

At the pharmacy back home, if you walk in wearing a helmet they start putting the drugs in the bag for you. Everyone who's ever wore a helmet in there has robbed them. So they just assume the worse.

will the tazer even work if both leads are not in you? i thought that it had some sort of safe guard to keep it from shocking unless both barbs penetrate the skin. and we don't pull them out at work i refuse i tell the cop that he can do it if he wants to or I'll take them to the er.
but from what i've read tazers have two stage's the first one checks to see that it has a good connection and the 2nd shocks you. but i may be wrong :dunno_white:

that is correct if both barbs are not in your skin it won't shock.  However most people, even went struck in the chest have enough force to still use their arms to pull the barbs out.

That being said, there was a show on discovery that showed a trained martial arts fighter able to control himself enough after being shocked to pull out the barbs.  The bad part, he was on the way to the ground when he was able to pull them out lol.

It was pretty kick ass.

Hmmm, can the barbs tell between leather and skin? Both animal hide per se.  I did tell an officer once that and the way he ripped them out of the poor girl I cringed no regard for human life that fella. So, depending on the officer I will try to go for a transport. They do not like transports unless it is the beginning of their shifts. But, if it is near end of shift you'd better be takin 'em out nothing like a cop having to sit in an ED for six hours for a five minute procedure. Hell, I was an EMT and hated holding the wall!

This scares the hell outta me! http://www.taser.com/products/law/Pages/ShockwaveLE.aspx

Now who is to say some time in the near future our government in the "fight against terror" decide that we don't need protesting or it escalates. Deploy the Shockwave. I'm walking by minding my own business and I'm a dead duck!

With walking into a gas station NOOO way do I walk in with a helmet on esp the small one's they might have a shotgun and shoot first and ask questions second!

Yes, they can. Your skin is grounded better than your jacket because you're still full of water and you conduct better. Many of the tasers have a high frequency mode that is activated when it detects the barbs aren't all the way in. The goal is to sting you from a slightly larger distance so you reflexively grab for the barbs and complete the circuit, allowing it to shock you normally. Not friendly.

Ha... I walked into a bank with my Ruger P89 9mm strapped on my side, Forgot it. After the range. lol. Anyways, there was a cop in there and the teller looks at him and says "ARE YOU GONNA DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT?" He looks at me see's that Im not some little hoodlum and say's. "What? It's not concealed, He's not brandishing it. That's completely legal." Laughs then walks out... lol

I walk into my local bank wearing my lid all the time.  Got a few  >:( looks the first time, but after that, nothing.  The cop shop is directly across the street.

I guess it helps that I know pretty much everybody in town.

Personally, I'd be taking my business elsewhere, after having a little heart-to-heart with the bank president.  Those people are just a little too jumpy for my taste.

no offence but the way everything is these day just take the helmet off and save all the looks and thought of this is a stick up.  it really bugs me to see a person walking into the gas station or store with there helmet on.  it takes 30 secs. or even less to take it off.  it really looks like when you do this that I love YOU dressed you when you left home and are not sure how to take it off or put it back on yourself. :thumb:

I guess the way I look at it is about manners. I mean I still take my baseball cap off in buildings and such and I'm a girl. I've also been programmed by the MOUSE no mirrored sunglasses too. Why, you are more friendly and approachable when someone can see your eyes. LOL Universal is the same way with sunglasses. I remember my first real day I pulled a trick on the boss per se. I have the half jackets and a total of three sets of lenses if it is real bright I wear the mirrored poloraized, work gets the brown see through, and night riding I have the yellow/amber lens. I came in before I clocked in with my mirrored set on and he saw it. Guess he was going to make an example out of me and during briefing called me up to the front he didn't see me switch my lenses. "Now if you look at Officer Sharp's sunglasses you will see a perfect example of what not to wear" Pulled them out and his mouth hit the ground. I was like "these are illegal". His response "sit down smart a$$". The whole briefing room bursted out laughing! Nothing like showing up your boss.

I'm with Josh why should we create a tense atmosphere when in less than a minute we can avoid many issues! And I don't wanna hear the helmet hair guys! I saw the shampoo comercial for you guys. He takes off the helmet and has perfect hair. Us women could spend five years and not get perfect hair LOL. Hence my baseball cap!
