The guy who sells these on eBay just sent me an email.

"I dont know if you saw or not, but I have some BMW toppers listed and mention the Suzuki toppers in my listing. If your friends are still interested...."

His user ID in eBay is katiesit. Here is a link the Beemer listing. Shoot him a note through eBay mail and I am sure he will respond.

Well

If it weren't $23 I'd have been all over it too. If I hadn't gone to the hospital I could have afforded it. But, I guess if my heart stopped working a cool key fob wouldn't have helped. Ahhh, well. One day I'll get the money for it!

Whatever floats your boats, but I'd avoid this coolness on practical grounds...

Makes key a big uncomfortable lump in your pocket.

Makes key impossible to put on a ring or clip.

of course, coolness wins out over practicality often enough in the hive mind here.

I hear you, but for me it is not impractical at all. I don't keep my key in my pants pocket, the key goes from my bike to my riding jacket pocket just fine. Or many times I put the key in my tank bag, and the tank bag comes with me. I got it because I did not want a key ring to continue to scratch up the bike.

Yep.. I dont keep mine on a ring either.. I have emailed back and forth w/ him a bit too. He will put some more up for sale once he gets an idea of what color everyone likes best.

Hi Guys, nice site!  I like how it is laid out.

I am the one who makes the key holders.  A number of folks from the forum have contacted me about them, thank you very much.  I have  a couple currently made and some of those are spoken for.  My reason for jumping on your forum is to find out what colors you folks are interested in.  The person I get the "S" from can get them in black, blue, yellow, or red.  There are also green ones, but I don't know I have ever seen a green Suzuki.  The ones I have made so far are usually on a black background, but I have experimented with a white background, to be honest with you I don't think it turned out very well, looks too creamy in color.

If I could get an idea of what people would like color wise, I will try to get more of those "S" and get some made and listed under their own title in ebay once I get them made.

As for the holders, cost, no key ring attachment etc.  I started making the BMW holder after I saw a similiar one on ebay that was auctioned off, I kid you not, for over $50.  I thought, heck I can make that.  So several hundred later and much trial and error, I had my own.  Several people saw it, liked it and I made ones for them since I had the proper drill bits etc.  I calculated how much in parts it costs to make them added some for my time and came up with the price they are at.  It is actually a bit less than when I first started because I found a better deal on the BMW symbols.  Yes, the "S" I use costs the same unless I buy in bulk, then I can save $1 on each "S".  I know some people think the 23 is too much.  Only thing I can say is I am not getting rich off of these.  I make them in my spare time on the weekends when I am not out riding.  The money I make generally keeps gas in my bike and pays for a meal on the road.  Bill Gates has nothing to worry about from me bumping him from the richest person list.

As it has been brought up above, the holder can not be attched to a normal keyring.  It is not designed for that.  It is just a neat way to dress up a boring part of your bike.  It is about as big around as a quarter and 5/8 inch tall.  So yes, if you wear tight jeans etc, it is like having a loaded key ring in your pocket, but it is only one key.  My key stays in bike when home and on the road goes into my jacket pocket, so it is not an issue for me.  Some people like them, some don't.

So that being said, thanks for the interest and please let me know what colors you would like.  If I get a large number of "votes" for one particular color, I can try to order a bunch of those and I can try to shave some off of the price.  Please remember though, I make these in my spare time just a few at a time.  If alot of people order, I wont be able to get them all done at once, that is why I like ebay, let's people know right up front how many I have.

I would love blue background with black "S" or vice versa. I didn't say it was worth it I just had more "important" things i.e. doctor bills LOL. But, at the end of May I should be able to afford it unless some other catastrophe arises. Which as the GSTwin guys know can very well happen to me!

Thanks for your hardwork however it is an awesome accessory!

I can make it ... and for prolly 1/2 that. Maybe even less if you would accept a hex un knurled knob.. Under 12 bucks shipped I'd bet.
The GS original key has a fat head. Big ass plastic head ... I can make it big enough to swallow that whole damn thing with nothing to be "broken off" ... like a python swallowing a pig. Glue the sucker in. The set screw will go through the slot on top and just keep it from unglueing itself.
Of course I cant do roundelle or Suzuki ... rather I wont ...
Of course you do know that a jap bike key has to push in and out right. That means it will leave 1/2 inch of empty space under the knob.
Cool.

I see where the original idea came from. BMW were doing something similar with their stock keys in the 70s. My old mans RT750 had a key just like this........

I like the idea, they look appealing and wouldnt be difficult to make, you could maybe flick an elblem off a cheap keyring and glue it on..... I might just stroll down to the machine-shop one dinner hour and have a go a rattling one off.

I dont know if anyone else is interested in the holders.  I have listed a couple of black on black, blue on black and red on black on ebay.  I also have a green on black and yellow on black that are not listed.

Thanks again guys!

does your key head still allow use of the steering lock?
how green is your green?  like this green?  it looks lighter in the pic than it really is, but is close to kawasaki green.
how about a pic of the green one?

I dont know where the steering lock is on your bike.  It should still work in that it does not alter the key other than changing the top on it.  If your lock is under the steering head and has limited space for the key to fit in to the lock, I guess it could block it because the top is 1 inch in diameter.  Maybe someone else here that has one can answer better.

As for green, PM me your email and I can send you a photo later tonight.

Yes, steering lock still works. I am able to use my key in all postitions for the ignition as well as for the tank and seat release.

I just got this and yes it will work with you pushing down..  Actually you have to use a dremel to cut your key so that this thing is not so high up.  Well you have to cut that plastic off too..   If you dont want to go through that trouble.. i believe someone here suggested just getting a copy of it from a shop then cutting the copy to fit your needs.

Works great and looks awesome.  Showed it to a couple of my coworkers and they are sold..  just need to send them the link.

I would actually suggest trying to get a space key made and using it for the holder.  No need destroying an original key if you can score a spare at a resonable cost.

Glad you like it.

I'm interested in one.  Black background, red "S" would be perfect.

I bought one and love it!!!! Definitely get a copy made and dremel or grind it down to fit snug inside the slot. I couldn't imagine damaging the original black plastic GS500 key.
