I can't count the number of times I've heard my father say "We throw away more food than some countries eat."
This is true, but you can also find the same conditions in places in our own country.
Even in our country's current downturn, I think it's quite important to realize (for the most part) how fortunate we truly are.

yep, very fortunate. mostly because of where on the earth this country is... plenty of water, plenty of resources, plenty of good land to farm... and a little bit of hard work.
much easier to grow food here than say... somewhere in africa
course it helps to not be constantly hacking each other to bit with machetes too.
