Finally got around to putting bike together after wheel repaint. Got inspired by a gstwinner who took the time to do a write up on the wiki. thanks.. Took about 8 hours of prep.. before painting.

This one got my LEDs lighting up the bike.. only got stopped once with a warning.. in the freaking daylight at that. It was cloudy thought..it is the NW. I didnt even realize it was on.

Looks good! I like the wheel and chainguard details :thumb:
Looks great! I like the red rotor accent. What type of paint did you use? Especially on the chain guard, anything special for the traffic?
I really like those wheels and that chainguard. Very well done. The rotor paint is also very cool.
i have heard krylon fusion is really good on flexible plastic, is that what you used on the chain guard?
man that looks good!
for the chain guard. I used duplicolor Adhesion promoter. According to the label its good for plastic painting. I then sprayed on the remaining duplicolor metalcast red and blue. i did blue first taking care not to spray to much on the area i knew i was going to paint red. then i taped off the area.. sprayed duplicolor base primer which allows the red to shine a bit more then sprayed the red.. then all i had to do was take the tape off and that was how i achieved the perfect straight line.
for the brake used the duplicolor base primer then the red metalcast paint. suppose to withstand up to 500degrees farenheit of heat without chipping. this part was just me following polish rim how to in the wiki section. much props to him.
looks pretty slick. I esp like the wheels and rotors.
very very nice!!! ;)
Bike looks good.
And Joshr did a excellent write up on the Wiki.
Props for giving him some credit as he deserves it.
Now if only he'd do one on, "Polish Rims" so we can all learn how to shine our tires, lol
It ain't easy being cheesy - Bob!
well i just wish one thing. i wish you would have did the kat rear wheel swap so i could buy another set of rims without having to do any work to them.....lol man yours turn out great. maybe even better then mine. I still work on my rims almost every time i go look at the bike. just make sure you get a good coat of wax on them to keep them looking great.
oh i almost for got. Thanks big it took some time but i thought it would help out anyone else that would like to do it to there bike. and like it says in the wiki if anyone needs help with it just shoot me an email or a pm :thumb: I knew blue was doing this and i have been waiting for the pics since we emailed a few weeks ago...lol
what is the zip tie for on the swing arm ?
if you paint that tab that holds the sling guard black, it will disappear and make the cool paint job look even coolerer !
nice job man - isn't blue lights illegal everywher though ?
that zip tie.. holds a 20 led lights that runs along the the swingarm on the inside.. there is one on the other side too.. it lights up the wheel area. The lights had sticking stuff on it.. but i didn't trust it. Those zip ties ensure they don't fall off.
the bike looks awesome man. good job :thumb:
thats schweet. nice attention to detail. Its amazing how much can change with just that little wheel paint trick. Im definitly going to follow your lead....kinda. lol. I cant wait ot get started. woot woot. Im so robbing ideas form a few people....my bad.
Great looking Bike!
nice bike. :thumb:
Very nice and clean looking GS you got there :thumb: Love the rims and additional painting you did, very clean!

Bluehaze, If I remember right your in Evrut? Last time I rode to Mt St Helens I took the GS500F, it was a blast. Im planning on making another run down that way soon. Your welcome to tag along, we could ride at night so we can turn on our underlighting! :woohoo:
I definitely wouldnt turn that down. Let me know... going to the track on June 3rd. Iam looking forward to that one for now. Yes.. everett is where i stay.
I guess it's nice, but IMHO I feel as though too much is going on. Maybe I just like plain things.
No offence to the OP!
