Title: high revving
Post by: Scott E. on September 28, 2003, 03:07:05 PM
Newbie here.  I just purchased a 2001 GS500E, very low miles.  After riding for a short while RPMs tend to go up, with 3500-4000 at idle.  Also I am shifting frequently to keep RPM below 5000 as the bike is still in the break in period.  No, the choke is not open.

Any ideas?  The bike spent much of 2002 sitting around, but was run off and on before I bought it.

maybe the idle is set to high....

its a screw (white in color i believe)....

run it so its nice and warm, then set the idle screw...

i had a similar problem.....it used to hang around 3500 til i figured it out...
