Title: Anyone riding around Maryland??
Post by: BaltimoreGS on April 28, 2009, 07:14:32 PM
Hey all, 1st time posting a thread   Just heard from Buddha that my carbs will be shipped back to me tomorrow and I'm looking froward to trying them out.  Anybody else here from MD?  I'm in Towson (northern B-more) and I spend some weekends near Cumberland, looking for some new people to ride with.  All my buddies have crotch rockets, be nice to find a fellow GS-er.  Later

I'm way down in southern PG county, but I'm riding an SV650 until I can get the GS back on the road.  I don't check this site all that often, but if you want to ride sometime, send me a PM and we can figure something out.  I know some good roads down this way, and one or two closer to you.

I live in Montgomery County (grew up in PG) so I mostly ride DC/NoVA but I get to Baltimore once in a while.  Let me know if you want to meet for a ride.

I also want to plan a meet and greet lunch this summer in or around Annapolis to break bread with some fellow GSers.  I'll be asking for input on a good location, so keep an eye on the meet and greet section.

I'm not sure of the best place to stop for the lunch, but I know some good routes south of Annapolis if you want to make a ride out of it.

Hey guys.

I'm in NoVA (just barely).  Chantilly VA here- just 5 miles south of Dulles airport.  Let me know if you all go riding, I may be interested.

Cool man, we are probably heading out for a ride Saturday if you care to join us.  A kid at work just got his first street bike (crotch rocket of course) and he has been bugging me to go riding with him.

What part of VA are you?  I'd like to hit Sky Line Drive at some point this summer.  One of the guys I ride with wants to do a "pie run" this weekend.  There is a country fruit market out I-70 in Hancock.  He swears it has "the best pies you will ever taste."  I'm not sure if I care to ride that far to get a pie but who knows...

i'm in way eastern VA but i'd love to head out to skyline for a ride. it's about 33 1/2 hours there though, so it wouldn't be much time for me on skyline itself.

i'm trying to go out there with a friend on his sv650 too, so we could have a nice little suzuki train! if i ever sell my car to get a bike...

You think that's bad?  I went to this place (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=&daddr=38.622169,-79.236553&hl=en&geocode=&mra=mi&mrsp=0&sz=18&sll=38.621841,-79.236118&sspn=0.003181,0.006968&ie=UTF8&ll=38.594871,-79.120445&spn=0.203664,0.445976&t=h&z=12) in Brandywine, WV for pie a couple times :)  The last time we went we found out that the lady that made the pies had a heart attack (but lived) last year and stopped making the pies :(  The peanut butter pie was amazing.  The blueberry I had last time was pretty damn good too...the ride wasn't too bad either  :thumb:

Jessie:

If you're riding through Baltimore and see a large, tall middle-aged man on a fancy scooter, pull up and say, "Hi, Mindwarp!"

Welcome to the club ver4.  My girlfriend just got her license recently so I've been doing some easy rides with her lately.  PachmanP from this board came along with our group last weekend.  Let me know if you care to join us sometime.  As long as there is one licensed rider in the group your permit is good.  If you want an easy bike to take your test on I have a little Nighthawk 250.  All my friends that took their test on it passed on the first try, it may be a good luck charm    :D

-bill14224:  What color is the scooter???  I have seen a guy on the north side that woulkd fit that description.

-brickerenator-  I think it was exit 36 I got off at once and caught rt. 40 when there was a traffic jam on 70.  There was a big Sheetz store at the rt 40 intersection.   I'm thinking of taking a few days off work around the weekend of the 20th and taking the bikes out to the Cumberland, MD/Bedford, PA area to ride if the weather is nice.  You ever make it out that way?

-Jessie

Thanks.  I'll definitely let you know.  I just bought the bike recently, so there are a few things that need to be fixed, but once that gets taken care of then I would have no problem going for a ride.  It probably won't be another two weeks though as I still need to go through the inspection process (although I do have temp tags right now).

I have. The area has some really nice roads. But I may not end up with a bike until next year :(

-Critter: Been around Baltimore many years and still don't know all the regional names, is that near Fells Point?  We're north of the city in Towson.  Let me know if you want to join us for a ride sometime.  I'll be back in Baltimore after the 6th of July.

-PachmanP-  You need to come out and ride again, always good to have a rocket scientist with us   :D

Hey cd, I'm going to be out in Bedford, PA this weekend.  I think we are going to ride to the festival in Chambersburg, PA on Saturday.  I don't think I have any set plans for next weekend, you ever make it up to the Towson area (north of Baltimore)?
