Would the other thing be "screamin' guitars"?

Too obscure?

Back in the late 70's, my oldest sister dated a guy who collected/restored '57 Chevies.  He had a black Nomad, a yellow Nomad, and about 4 or 5 others in his warehouse in different stages of resto.

If you could afford that '57 Chevy you wouldn't own a GS 500!

My father once had a 1957 Nomad with a 230 straight 6 and 3 speed manual on the column.  He hated that car.  It rusted-out as fast as the payment book got skinny and couldn't climb a hill in second gear.  It consumed many quarts of oil between changes from when it was new, and whenever it rained it wouldn't run, which was good, because the wipers wouldn't work either!  The dealer kept telling him it was normal!

The car was so bad he drove Volkswagens for 25 years afterward.  Awful build quality in those days.  In order for the car to be any good, you have to take EVERYTHING apart and rebuild and reassemble it properly.  In original condition, those cars are CRAP!  At this stage of the game I seriously doubt there are any originals left, other than in museums.

Years later, I had a 1964 Chevelle with the same drivetrain.  I delivered pizza and commuted to college in it.  It wouldn't stop running until the suspension collapsed and the floorboards were completely gone.  It gave me decent power and 22mpg the whole time.  Amazing how much better a car can be when the employees aren't drunk!
