Title: My bike only runs while fuel valve is on "PRI"???? WHY????
Post by: dward511 on May 02, 2009, 10:17:14 AM
Ok so here it is. My bike is having a weird problem and i am hoping someone can help me out. My bike will only run when my fuel valve is in the PRI position but the manual is saying that that is bad for the bike and it should always be in the "ON" Position. Can someone please let me know what i need to do? I already cleaned the carbs out and everything and then it ran fine for a while on the "ON" position but now it wont again. Could it maybe be the Fuel filter is bad?

I have a 2004 Gs500f and it only had 7800 miles on it so....I am also wondering if anyone has any blue right side cowlings? Please help me out guys...

you might want to consider taking apart your petcock(the on/pri/res thing).  Before that you might want to check your hoses and make sure everything is hooked up correctly.  On and Res are vacuum operated, so you may have a problem with the vacuum going to the petcock. Take a look at this http://wiki.gstwins.com/index.php?n=Upgrades.Petcock page from the wiki as it has a decent amount of info and diagrams.

sounds like the vacuum line is off where it connects to the left carb. could be on the petcock side, or on the carb side.

either vac leak from carbs or petcock diaphram took a shaZam! is my guess.
