Title: Head off, jobs to do.
Post by: lamoun on May 02, 2009, 01:13:37 PM
Since my valve related problems haven't magically disappeared for some reason..  :dunno_white:   :D

(Probably burned intake valve, http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=45781.msg513764#msg513764 (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=45781.msg513764#msg513764))

I finally decided to remove the head and replace the left intake valve.

My bike has about 22000Km ~ 14000 miles, will the other valves need to be replaced too?

Is it necessary to do a 3 angle job to them, or lapping them is just as good if I don't replace them?

Photo will follow when I finally find a garage to remove the head.   :icon_exclaim:

I'm not an expert. But i am poor, so i just lapped mine, and they seem to work fine. Its up to you i guess. I would think at 14000 miles you could still get alot of life out of them.

3 angle them, or better yet replace with kibblewhite stuff. Suzuki intake valves are ... how do I put it ... made of ... what's the material ... yea sheite.
Put new valves all around, put +1 jets in the carbs and watch it work so much better.
Cool.

Well I'm a poor b@stard too, all depends from how much the machine shop will ask for it.

Unfortunately every shop I went to, had valves for enduro and mx,  nothing for the poor ol' GS... so I am going OEM.  :icon_confused:
