Well guys I thought we needed a thread to showcase our bikes. Every other forum that I'm on has one ongoing thread that members continuously post pics on the progress of their car/bike. So here is ours if we don't have one and I'd like to start if off.
Before the F conversion

You do know your Exhaust can is upside down right? :D
Only way to get a left can on the right ... :cookoo:
Cool.
Buddha.
I think its correct. I've never seen an exhaust point up. Everyone else's point down too. Or is it something else that indicates that it is upside down? Its my first aftermarket exhaust install so it was all kind of trial and error. I think it looks best the way it is though.

yeah, I took it back under the seat where it goes
it looks from the picture like its pointed up.. but if you have it pointed down.. then you have it on right. just hazy picture.

This is how she sits as of today! Its just coming around the corner, and I'm ready to finish it up and get her running! Carbs still need cleaned, battery charged/replaced, and wiring for the vaypor gauges finished and it should be good to go!
Nick
Well, she's sitting here (mostly):
(http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv13/arosberg/Engine%20disassembly/th_8447ba9d.jpg) (http://s665.photobucket.com/albums/vv13/arosberg/Engine%20disassembly/?action=view¤t=8447ba9d.jpg)
And her heart is cut open on the workbench:
(http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv13/arosberg/Engine%20disassembly/th_42ed07a3.jpg) (http://s665.photobucket.com/albums/vv13/arosberg/Engine%20disassembly/?action=view¤t=42ed07a3.jpg)
Except for the part that's on the floor:
(http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv13/arosberg/Engine%20disassembly/th_c3b4dddb.jpg) (http://s665.photobucket.com/albums/vv13/arosberg/Engine%20disassembly/?action=view¤t=c3b4dddb.jpg)
And the various important bits in the box:
(http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv13/arosberg/Engine%20disassembly/th_17f87077.jpg) (http://s665.photobucket.com/albums/vv13/arosberg/Engine%20disassembly/?action=view¤t=17f87077.jpg)
Then if I add one of these:
(http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv13/arosberg/Engine%20disassembly/th_5c72ffe3.jpg) (http://s665.photobucket.com/albums/vv13/arosberg/Engine%20disassembly/?action=view¤t=5c72ffe3.jpg)
and one of these:
(http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv13/arosberg/Engine%20disassembly/th_7db27523.jpg) (http://s665.photobucket.com/albums/vv13/arosberg/Engine%20disassembly/?action=view¤t=7db27523.jpg)
and a pair of these (the kind on the right):
(http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv13/arosberg/Engine%20disassembly/th_4efc5ea4.jpg) (http://s665.photobucket.com/albums/vv13/arosberg/Engine%20disassembly/?action=view¤t=4efc5ea4.jpg)
Plus all the parts that Buddha owes me (general hint in his direction here)
Then I might just have something worth talking about!

This is my Flick! We went out riding all day today first real day of riding since being a bullseye for road debris! Shoulder still stiff but doesn't hinder riding I just can't raise my hand which is great so I can't volunteer for anything LOL!
BTW is anybody else going to play the picture game. My Flick has been on there I think more than anybody else as of late. I will get the Burghman tomorrow if everyone else is too lazy.
Soooo AVERAGE You're a Chick rider too. You would really think I could pick this up right? Oh well realized I don't have any good close ups of my boy tomorrow supposed to be real purty maybe I'll do a photoshoot!
Mary
mach1, you have one of the sexiest faired bikes on this site. Paulcet gets my vote for the birthday suit edition :thumb:

Buddha,
I know you were kidding, I've just got to tell myself thats the reason I'm leaving a place that averages 300+ sunny and cloudless days a year. Where it never rains and temps in december and january are still in the 50's. Where I can go dirt bike riding in the morning, and drive 2 hours north to ski that night, or before the swine flu drive 3.5 hours south to Mexico! Its hard to leave a place like this, but I know in my heart its the best thing for my family. lol There I go again, reminding myself!

Hey UT how much work did you have to put into that Veypor (I think that is what the gauge is) housing. I'd love to do something like that to my "F" would give it a more modern look IMO.
Average thanks so much for clearing that up! I was like dude she is more of a Tom Boy than me the way you talk LOL! It was all the medication I was on HONEST! Maybe I should share. Nah, ITS ALL MINE! okay another medicated rave! Shut up Mary I can't stop talking uhm typing AAAAAAHHHHHHH!

I have had a request to post my bike as it sits today:

Actually, that pic was taken about 6 weeks ago. The only difference is the rearsets have been lowered and moved forward due to a knee injury i had. It hurt if I rode for more than 5 minutes. I love the adjustability! The knee is getting better, so I'll move them up and back within a week probably.

HAD a Radian. Sold it to a co-worker. He's in need of a carb (PO broke one of the float pin goal-posts, then JB-welded it. I didn't make the rearsets, dgyver did. These are 1/4" thick, and I think he also did a set with thicker material. PM him to see if he has a template. If not, give me a yell within the next couple of days and I'll sketch them when I get ready to move them back up. They are adjustable to something like 10 positions, so they are not going to stay on the bike!

I got it from http://www.topsellerie.com/
Actually, my girlfriend gave it to me for my birthday but she had me order it because it is a bit confusing. Depending on the current exchange rate, its about $130 shipped to your door. Or you can buy it on ebay for like $200 shipped if you are rich and don't want to deal with the crazy french website. I got it in about a week, which is pretty remarkable considering they are made to order and coming from France. Its something I would have never bought myself but it is fantastic! Top sellerie and bagster both make tank bags that clip onto the bra (more of a sweater really). Regular magnetic tankbags don't work very well anymore. Covers up all my scratches and dents!

If it's anything, it't not hot looking, but thanks anyway ;)
The problem is that the previous owner left it exposed to the elements for more than a year. You should see what my exhaust lookele like last year, rusted beyond belief. Also, the paint is 16 years old, chipped and damaged, again.
The good thing is that one of the previous owners modified the ssuspension, so now it's hard (almost too hard for our roads). All the consumables (brake pads, oil, brake fluid) are pretty recent so that saved me a lot of headaches. The thing that got me though, was the rear tire, REALLY worn in the center. So I said screw this and got a Sport Demon :D.
5thAve:
Isn't a sleeper something that looks common (like my bike), but will blow past you like you're not there?
If I wanted to make it a sleeper I'd stick a 750 in there like the buddha. I'm not crazy enough to do it, mostly because I'm more or less a beginner
What I like about this particular bike, is it's almost uniqueness (at least in the western world). It seems it's a gray import from Japan. But for the life of me, I can't figure what is a JDM spec bike doing in Romania.
^ not 750, 650 as in GR650. And the knucklehead still doesnt have it running yet :icon_lol:
Muahahahahahaha ... its now a pile of parts waiting on frame mods ... and it will be followed by a powdercoat ... muhahahhahahaha ... while I get that motor in the actual GR and run it, while I fix the GR's leaky base gasket.
Cool.
Buddha.

its very practical.
2 chains, 3 locks , bike cover ,tools, 2*1.5 mineral water and a small suitcase with all the accessories to make a good cup of coffee
small update on the bike :

Best representation I have right now. The tank's back on, and it runs great. This weekend I'm doing the fiberglass work to restore the chin fairing and headlight fairing I bought from patrick, and hopefully will get the front fender painted. I think I may pull the tank off and take it to get painted rather than rattlecanning the metal. Still trying to decide what color I want the bike to be in its final iteration...its flat black with clear coat right now. The tail section was my first attempt at rattlecan painting.

Sorry for the crappy camera phone quality - so not like me. And here's my beauty. She's lost a little weight recently...(jenny craig diet - it takes support)
Most recent thing I've done is the paint. It was pretty nasty and rust stained and corrosion nastiness everywhere ('96 and probably outside most of it's life (second owner))
I've still got to paint the front forks, the tank, and the engine, but the rest of her is painted.

^What does that straight pipe sound like?
Built to look like a straight pipe, but it's not quite. It's got a decent amount of welded in diffusers to reduce the sound. It's probably just on this side of legal, loudness wise. Never had a problem with cops.
Here's 3 vids on youtube of the sound idle/reving and driving and some more angles. This was all before I painted it, so it's still got the charcoal frame, and silver swing arm, and random other things.

Ha. Currently my bike is (and has been) in the shop getting re-done.
Long story short, last December my neighbor's cobag son decided it' be a good idea to basically ram my parked bike with his car. Knowing that I was home, he also thought it'd be a good idea to flee the scene when I ran outside screaming "WTF!". >:(
He was cited that night by the police for leaving the scene of an incident and I haven't seen him driving since February. Ha. He's 31 by the way, yeah just feel pity.
His insurance, after he refused to cooperate, paid me out $1300, which was nice considering the bike was less than 6 months old. The rear fairing was all cracked up and also sort of other mostly cosmetic damage.
In turn, I'm taking this opportunity to get it converted from "F" to an "E" (for some reason, nearly 100% of friends and family all prefer the "E" look to the "F", lol). The shop was able to track down all new "E" parts including the headlight, mount, blinkers, mirrors, etc. I'm saving roughly $400 from the $1300 estimate, so that's cool. Sure, coulda done some of that myself but this way I know it's basically a new "E" from the shop. Plus I'm getting a 15T rear sprocket added.
Should be finished by Tuesday, at which point I'll add an F-16 windshield (streetfighter type) (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=130302003501) and some engine guards. Can't wait to finally ride again!

Nope. It's a 130/40/17. It did have a 140 on it but apparently this is what the shop decided to order for me. I just got it back from the shop, that tire doesnt have 100 miles on it. And I agree, it does look huge from the side. Handles much better now tho :woohoo:

Upload your image to a hosting site such a imageshack.us, photobucket etc.
Then you insert the link to your uploaded image between !(http://link%20to%20image!) (sans the exclamation marks).
Or press the insert image icon (second from the left, underneath the italic icon) and it will insert the img code automaticlly and all you have to do is paste in the link.
thanks omrimon

bikeboy, the code you posted is html and this board doesn't use that so all you need is the url of the pic, in this case it's - http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt299/bikeboy08/Bike011.jpg. and then you put that in between a opening and closing image tags - {img} and {/img} except using [ and this ] instead of { and } respectively to get this.

Just needs clipons and a new tail.
Please ignore how white trashy my back patio looks. Why wife just got past /gardening/planting season, and everything else is still strewn about. We bought this bike years ago for my wife when I still had my triumph. It had a couple minor engine issued we never bothered to look at, then finally it kept stalling, so we put it in her parents shed, I ended up selling my bike a couple years later. It sat there for a couple years still until just this spring when I got the bug again, and decided to pull it out and see if I can make it run. Bought it pretty much stock aside from a vance and hines exhaust. We chopped up the subframe a little to fit the RI seat and tail. Those are some r6 clipons, I have a buell flyscreen I need to put back on it. Also swapped the fork springs and have an sv650 rear shock for it. Other than that I'm just waiting until I get my basement put back together within the next couple weeks, then the engine is gonna get as much of a detailed tune up as my complete lack of knowledge will let me do with the service manual, and hope it starts running right. The paint could use a touch up, I need to come up with some kind of undertail as it doesn't have anything under there now, and the tail is slightly above the subframe, so that'll take some deep though, and I'd also like to switch to a nicer pair of footpegs.

Attention, Attention! All pre gs( can i still this Kat term for the GS?) guys looking to get a post tank should be shuffled to this thread so they can see this pic. This is a perfect pic of how the older seat fits on the newer tank. End of my own threadjack lol
I took these pictures by accident. I was trying to get normal side shots and this is how it turned out!

It's a home made 2 piece fairing that I haven't finished I was just getting ideas on how it would look.
I have no idea how I did it. I think I know and can reproduce it when the project is finished? We'll see :thumb:
Not to shaby,my friend.
My Junk. It takes good pictures. In person it looks like a piece of crap.

Here is my 2007 GS500f --- I stopped to snap these pictures right after it hit 1000 miles on the odometer (bought with 110 on it) :D :D

My Kat wheel paying homage to the Late Great "Papa Bear" Halas. The fairings will be painted a nice navy blue along with a few decals thrown in to give it a clean look. And a few random pics of my bike in the dark..

PM.
Cool.

As it sat yesterday, when my pipe fell off going down the road. I had to sit and wait for it to cool down so I could strap it to the bike without melting anything, and some passerby decided something must be wrong with me and called 911. Thus, the firetruck in the background. The cop (who was, needless to say, less than happy about the whole situation) had already left. Very good response time though, I was sitting there all of 5 minutes. Anywho . . . .

911 whats your emergency?
Yeah I think this kid is stealing someones muffler off a rice burner....
Whats the location.....
Their at AKZO NOBEL...
Yeah he's wearing one of those dumb mohawks on a motorcross helmet....
Enough said.... We'll get someone right over......
:police:
Sorry I couldnt resist...
lol thats great.
*just for the record*
FTP!

Red, I love your bike. The headlights, eh maybe not my first choice, but the paint job is awesome. Sorry to hear about your exhaust though. :(
Not to be an @$$hole of a passer-by but, When i first laid eyes on that exhaust a few days ago, i really did wish that it would just fall off. How freakign amazing is that. I like the red a black and the head lights...just hated the exhaust...with a passion.
I've already mentioned that it wasn't my cup of tea. If that's the style you like, you could get the ebay bike mufflers that they sell like that. Would fit the bike awhole lot better and probably sound about the same. ;)

I have two of those mohawks. One red, one black. I don't wear them. I think I wore them for about a week until I saw some tool embarrassing himself on a Gixxer. I've got a motocross helmet too, but it's acceptable because I actually have a supermoto.
That being said, I love my MX helmet in the summer. You want to talk ventilation? That thing will trump almost anything.
I have a re-introduction to the Forum. 2004 GS500F (renamed Bumble Bee) relocated from NY to NJ. She has been re-united with her older sister Lil' Red :thumb:

awesome! :thumb:
so looks like your turn signals on your E are so heavy that they're hanging down. hehehe. shorten the signal stalks!
cheers,
~drin
Nah I am going to build a metal brace for it to straighten them. The "E" stays 100% stock with only bolt on accessories like 1/4 fairing.

FINALLY! Some frickin props on my krylon paint job! Thanks guy :thumb:
Spray paint CAN look really good, if you have a steady hand and know what you are doing. Wetsanding helps too, but I didnt take the time to do that on Fabritzia. She ain't worth THAT much effort. And as for MX helmets/ventilation. . . . hells yeah. That full-face helmet in the picture- I REFUSE to wear it. I can't stand being closed up like that. I only have it for passengers.

Man, is that the stock headlight? It looks HUGE. You get my vote for most awesome nekkid bike though, looks like you have definitely put in the wrench time. Very nice
psyber; I know what would be the perfect finder for that front end....Busa. Would set it off just right and I think a Duc' monster fairing and you would have on sweet looking(as if it already isn't)
O0
it is stock headlight; i should get a fender, what duc fairing?

holy hell thats hot.
damn,i thought i was done with the bike. Looks like my final plans are:
Duc fairing
maybe a rear hugger
new clipons (on the way, raised a bit..these are uncomfortably low for commute)
and some more MSF courses

Look on pg 6 and you'll see what the Busa fender looks like with your FE ;)
the busa fender looks a bit chunky. Maybe pick up a cheapo plastic gsxr fender and trim it up to be less bulky
needs head work...what better place to get into it than my living room?

At least it looks like you have a nice comfortable chair to sit in while you work on it. :)
I think the redneck lugage would look nice on there :thumb:
work in progress...

Jeremy, that net is going to destroy your new paint on your tail.
You got that right.
This is from the night I bought it. My brother's neighbor sold it to me for $900. Not a bad price around here for a well maintained and running bike. I know the history because I owned it two years ago before I sold it to my brother who sold it to his neighbor who finally sold it back to me.
ummm is it just me or did someone remove the manufacturing tag on your frame?
Isn't the tag on the other side? I think my bike's like that too.
my tag is on the other side as well (left leg side)
:whisper: Mines on the bottom I have to turn my bike upside down to read it!

As it now stands - Nexxus Stainless Steel Exhaust, K&N Lunchbox Filter, re-jetted carbs (140 mains, stock pilot), Streetfighter II dual headlight, Powerbronze fly screen, mini Iridium indicators Next mods? Need a good tail tidy to get rid of that ugly back fender...
