Title: Rpms drop when clutch engaged
Post by: danhynes on May 04, 2009, 12:13:08 PM
I have a 94 gs500. I have a weird problem I finally narrowed down. My bike idles properly at around 1.3 while in neutral, but when I squeeze the clutch, either to take off or more problematically when downshifting, my rpms drop a lot and the bike will stall if I do not give it throttle. Also I think it does it worse if the clutch is half squeezed as opposed to fully squeezed. Does anyone know what the likely problem is? I am thinking possibly the clutch wire itself, but it is my first bike so I do not really know. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

check and make sure the clutch is adjusted properly.  is the clutch cable by chance rapped around the choke cable?
