For the love of god, change the title of this thread :cookoo:
That is a little dorky that it matches your bike, but hey if it makes you happy, it's all good.  Congrats, it looks pretty clean.

Of course, you do know Rangers aren't real trucks right?  I'm going to look at a real truck tomorrow, I'll take pics for you whether I buy it or not.  It's an RHD, diesel, Land Rover Series III.

the bike = rockage :D

the truck = f  o  r  d (shrug)

they're pretty though. and those ranger parts must be cheap as hell since they haven't changed in 20 years now. :) rock it !

When I found a Ranger I really liked, it was white.  I was SOOOO hoping I'd get it, but the dealer claimed that it had engine problems the day I was supposed to pick it up.  When I found this one, I looked at it, and ALMOST didn't buy it because it was the same shade blue.  lol

I'm getting my new toy on Monday.  It's a UK spec 1981 Land Rover Series III, petrol.  The thing is a beast, I had a blast driving it when I went for a test drive.  I can't wait to take it out to the gun club :thumb:

Might be getting another neato toy on Tuesday or Wednesday, an H&K P2000 with all the little goodies one should come with (3 hi cap mags, 2 holsters, laser, light)

Most Pcar enthusiasts (myself included) think it's a f%$king monstrosity.  It looks like a 911 and a Maserati were fuching.  German+Italian just doesn't work.  Besides the whole 4-door sports car has been beaten to death by everyone (AMG's , M series, Quattro's, Aston Martin released one..........)  If you want a 4-door sports car, get a used 63 AMG and slap the 4k renntech bolt on kit on it, 4 doors and 500rwhp :cookoo: If you want a car that barely fits 2 people, accelerates slowly compared to other modern sports cars, but can take that turn at 140, get a 911.  Iffen you just want a big shaZam! eating grin, get a highly modified 951, that'll make you twitch.

i've honestly been drooling over the thought of  having a GT2 to cruise around in...    :icon_twisted:

i also don't understand why the GT3 has less power than the GT2 and is cheaper. in my mind, shouldn't the "newer" version of a car be better, faster, etc than the older one?  :dunno_white:
Title: Re: My toys
Post by: spc on May 10, 2009, 12:34:28 PM
The GT3 isn't a 'newer' version, per se, just different. (I believe both were offered in '09 and '10 versions so far)  There's a black GT2 on the island that sounds like the world is ending when he gets on the gas :icon_twisted:

I once had a 99 Ranger with step sides.  I loved the thing... right up until it started eating a set of pinion bearings every 10,000 miles.

Good luck with yours!  I hope it proves more durable than mine did!

I've got about a hundred and thirty K on my '01 Edge without a single problem. I love your truck, it's the exact one I wanted. If you haven't already, check out rangerpowersports.com. If you're ever looking to mod the ranger that's the place to go, great bunch of guys for the most part. Have you thought about lifting or lowering it?

Go for it.  Dress up, get any signs of the youngins out of the car and seem 'disinterested'.  Make them sell you on taking it for a test drive.  The Caymen is a fun little b!tch along with the Boxster.  While you're making the rounds, hit the Benz dealer and get a test ride in ANYTHING with an AMG and the numbers 63.  You WILL shaZam! your pants.  Nothing quite like 450rwhp out of the box and next to no traction control system :cookoo:   The Jag XFA is f%$king hideous, but an absolute blast to drive.

My '95 Ranger was the best vehicle I ever owned. 10 years/120K miles. Never garaged. Air still blew ice cold, no rust and the chrome wheels/caps looked like the day I bought it. Never had an alignment, tuneup or any exhaust work. Front brakes only at 73K and a water pump at 85K. Yeah...American made vehicles are junk.

The only problem is that it needs a starter :icon_confused:  Hopefully my mechanic can source one pretty quick.  I pulled the thing off after changing the solenoid and when I cracked the case open little pieces of magnet fell out  :-X     Fortunately, it's pretty easy to push start and if I can find the damn handle, I can crank start it :cookoo:

Gun Control, Gun Control, Gun Control!!!! To get a gun here you have to go through hell and then paying for ammunition over a  222 size is pretty expensive. Handguns are just not needed by the public. I have a  license to shoot a centrefire or rimfire bolt action rifle with no more than 9 shots. And the only way i go that is by working on a farm and saying i am culling kangaroos.

And if you do a dangerous act or get an AVO out on you, say goodbye to your license and firearms.. taken in the blink of an eye

You have fun down under, believing that 2+2 really does equal 5.

usually under federal stature you need an ffl license to own an auto weapon tho. not impossible but a bit of a pita
to obtaini hav ehte aforementioned license. but have 7yet to opwn one tho. ( pricy as hell) i can always obtain, an ak, and convert it ;) )
LEGALLY

You don't have to have an FFL to purchase a fully automatic weapon, he!! you don't even have to do it in your state of residence.  Isn't that awesome?  I can buy a fully automatic AK in any state that sells em, but I can only buy a handgun in SC :cookoo:  The form 4 is a joke too, CLEO can be one of dozens of people in any given locality.

Decided against the trade.  I've heard way too many horror stories about Para and the Warthogs.  I couldn't jam my RIA if I tried.  I'll just use that money for a set of Wilson spring, hammer, trigger and sights.

Yes, it used to be a really cheap hobby all in all, but now since the obamania hit, the gun shows are crazy, and prices have skyrocketed.  As to the comments about that being the most ammo they've ever seen, you haven't seen very many gun nuts then because what I have compared to many is next to nothing.  I could shoot all of that in a few weekends if I brought out most of my guns really easy.  Thats also about $3500-4000 in ammo too.

Title: Re: My toys
Post by: spc on May 28, 2009, 09:24:36 PM
That's just it.  They carry a stick.  They run around waving their stick like it's fuching magic in the faces of countries with machine guns.  It's just going to take one country getting tired of it to completely end this problem.  From a political standpoint, that country needs to be China by using 'forceful words' or Japan by just levelling the damn place.  Of course, Japan isn't supposed to have Nukes, though at this point most analysts agree that they do and are more than ready to use them against NK.

Pakistan could become a problem if the Taliban knocks over a few key military bases, but their Nuke tech is so old school half of it is probably non-serviceable.  There are some very tightly strung wires being walked very delicately right now and most of the country is oblivious :icon_confused:

I'm trying to trade my G26 off for a P22+cash.   I see .22lr everywhere, $20 for 500rds is a cheap and fun day of shooting and you can get some surprisingly hot loads (and fun stuff like incendiary and tracer) in .22lr

Ideally I'd find someone with a p22 and 5000rds that wanted to just call it a straight trade.
Title: Re: My toys
Post by: jserio on May 29, 2009, 10:14:14 AM
sometimes it's not about the round, it's about round placement.   .22lr is a decent, cheap round from what i understand.
Title: Re: My toys
Post by: spc on May 29, 2009, 10:19:34 AM
Never count on round placement unless YOU are combat proven. (even then it's not something to rely on)  People do weird things under stress and calming down to get a good sight picture is generally not one of them.
