Also looking into custom exhaust. If there are any wild ideas you think would be unique, cool, nice to see, drop a suggestion. I pretty much have a picture of everything Im gonna do, but options are always nice, like the passenger pegs, I was looking for GSXR or TL1000 pegs but I came accross these and said hummmppphh with a little modification these would look great.... So throw something out there If I like Ill use it, If it inspires me Ill change it... lol

Ok please hold your comments if your gonna tell me how crappy the picture is, I did this with microsoft paint (Which Sucks) in like 30 minutes. I dont have Photoshop, so bare with me. The orange is going to be only one color I did it this way to try and give it some hint of the pearlescent paint I want to use.

isn't it the color scheme from new Yamaha FZ6R??
Title: Re: boot state update..
Post by: Chanse on May 14, 2009, 01:49:46 PM
Qwertydude...... thanks for the site. Ill try it out Ill try it out. (edit) by the way I think its www.getpaint.net thats where its directing me to. These are the fairings sold by Mmotos. I'll post the full URL in a while, but they offer several kits, this one is a little expensive ($1500) But it comes pre-painted, with new headlight, mirrors, windscreen, blinkers, new tail section with built in blinkers, new seat pads, new headlight mount also mounts gauges, (so you can lose the ugly top plate), Mounts to mount side fairings, front and rear huggers, and Clip ons. So when you think of it that way, its not too bad, and Ill get some of my money back when I sell the stuff I don't need after the build.

Kml.krk....    Not quite, the colors were always gonna be the pearlescent orange and black cause thats who I'm gonna paint my 68 Cuda when its done, but the star design was inspired by the new yamaha, that and Jason Britton's captain America design, Love the show, didn't wanta copy him flat out. But I have always liked his bikes.

bucks1605.... Right now I have the bike torn down. Just got my new gauges in, new tank, and my CBR f2 rear sets. So today I'm modifying the sets to go on. But lots more coming in and ordered, In fact I have the thick fork brace, and a powdercoated Kat shock coming from Buddha, and I talked to Dgyver this morning and bought his Kat 600 wheel. So looking forward to riding again soon...

Oh and I just won a no name carbon fiber exhaust can on ebay for $80 that will end up being chopped and relocated, possibly. depends on the sound and looks...

$1500 + cost of your bike + additional mods = nice 600 faired bike or a good down payment on one.

But who am I to talk. I have already done everything you are planning on doing.

Kripe Chanse you beat me to it. I was gonna say Jason Briton from Super Bikes. Some of his shows on Speed are pretty cool. The ice racing one took the prize when the dude drove his car into the lake LMFAO!

I already got an "F" but if something were to "happen" to Flick I'd go for those fairings in a heart beat. For me the 500 is well enough to get me in hot water I don't need more power. Almost, earned me a $261 ticket an hour ago coming home. Thank God for LEO T-shirt I was sporting!

Post by: Chanse on May 14, 2009, 04:00:24 PM
Seamax.... The main reason I went with the kit was because technically my bike was supposed to be totalled. I talked the insurance adjuster into repairing the bike because the frame, and engine are perfect, just mostly cosmetic damage, so he "ADJUSTED" the amounts that he could accept for salvage, to give me the max pay back to fix my ride. bikes only worth what  $4200 and he gave me $3100 for damages minus my $500 deductable. I could have bought used stuff and saved lots, but my bank wouldnt release funds to me unless it had invoices for the bike, So it would have cost me just as much going with all new parts, if not more, than going with the kit.... So I figured, Why the he-ll not. Besides, I've had other bikes, and Im in this one just cause I love to ride, I didnt buy this one for speed.

Hey no hard feelings. I'm saying I'm in the same boat. I got one of the very first MMOTOS fairings when Aluizio created it as a prototype with the undertail exhaust, which he no longer produces. Did all the mods possible when Pablo's website was the main source for us GS'ers. And as witness on this board there are numerous customized GS500's. Our European members have done some of the most radical modifications I have ever seen to a GS.

They have inspired me on to my next project...a flat black cafe racer from an old CB750.

SEAMAX.... None taken, I  didnt mean to come off as being rude :dunno_black:, but I must have.. sorry, Yeah I remember reading your post when you did yours, you put those twin ATV mufflers under the belly. I checked into that and asked him about them, the only info he could give me was that it was a brazilian company that made them and they cost $600. So I guess you got yours pretty cheap... lol. I just bought a Carbon fiber can off of ebay, I dont know If Im gonna mount it regularly, or chop it and put it under the tail, stealing someone else's idea... lol, I'll just have to see where it looks best once I get the body put on. Hows yours, have you changed anything else?

I started fooling around with my CBR F2 rearsets today and damn it Im gonna have to chop off the tab that holds the brake switch to get it to fit, so Im gonna cut a steal plate that will be sandwhiched between the frame and rearset to move the switch out of the way a freakin 1/4 inch can you believe that mess... lol Oh well I guess thats what you gotta do if you want something different. Im also gonna have to go to the hardware store tommorow and get some shorter bolts, or a couple of washers.

Did you get the brake cylinder and line with the CBR rearset? I bought my cbr rearset off ebay too and it came with the brake cylinder and lines. All I did, besides dremeling the holes wider to make the reasets fit onto the GS, was to removed the GS brake cylinder, switch and lines and run the CBR one. Just have to refill brake fluid and run out the bubbles.

Yeah I got the resivoir, caliper and all, looking like Im gonna have to cut the stock shifter and drill it to take the shift linkage. just trying to get the right foot position. Yours fit without modifying the brake light braket thingy? mine it holds it out of the way from the mounting holes, kinda tilted back.

As long as you wind up with that GSXR orange :icon_twisted:, I think you should go with just the one big silver star.  Maybe a few more gray accents (or black) around the headlight would look good (hard to envision exactly how it will turn out though).

I know what you mean - I almost did the same thing. The poll what somewhat confusing   :dunno_white:
the orange star on top should be:  orange star, WITH little stars  or something like that.

anyways the scheme with little stars look good too!! just a tad more like FZ6R, but that's OK, I like it!

You'll all have to wait to see it. I ordered the kit today, however its gonna take about three weeks to get it in, they just started the kit with the single headlight and also Im getting mine custom painted not a pre-existing design from mmotos, I must say though these guys are pretty cool to work with over the last week or so we've been in contact discussing options, and they always respond, and answered all of my questions sometimes twice.. lol. Anyways, Im looking forward to getting it it and doing a write up on it. But stay tooned because I have a host of other mods Im gonna do while waiting. Im working with bob right now, sending him an 08 rotor and backing plate to modify and then Im gonna test them both out to see if the ignition mod works with the +06. That should be interesting.

CBR F2 rearsets installed. To allow the right side to fit I had to cut off the tab that holds the reservoir feeder tube, and the tab that holds the rear brake light switch. Dgyver said that I can use a brake pressure switch ( http://www.1888fastlap.com/store/customer/search.php?substring=pressure+switch (http://www.1888fastlap.com/store/customer/search.php?substring=pressure+switch) ) that will allow me to keep the rear brake light functional. So ill be trying that, but if you notice in one of the photos there is little clearance for the wires to exit the banjo bolt on the master cylinder, so Ill cross that hurtle when the switch arrives, worst case scenario I'll mount the switch on the caliper side of the brake line. I also bent the stock shifter after cutting to make it hug the sproket cover a little more closely. This set up may or may not change in addition to the other mods I have in store for the bike. I will also be re-polishing all the pieces before the final Assembly. Also the stock shifter was repositioned to retain the stock shift configuration, If you desire a GP Shift pattern reposition shifter in the downward position.

Title: Re: Boot State Update..
Post by: Chanse on May 28, 2009, 11:09:39 PM
Mary:  The reason I went with the cbr rearsets is because they fit with minimal modification, Astetics, a better lean angle (your pegs wont drag in a steap lean), and a more aggressive foot position, (they move the pegs back about an inch and a half), and up like 2 inches. Try riding with your toes on the foot pegs instead of the arch of your foot keep the same angle of your foot as normal and thats about where they are.

Chanse, depending on what size tire you run on the Kat wheel....nevermind. Any size tire you run on the Kat wheel( the whole purpose of the Kat wheel is for wider rubber) and you won't be albe to use the hugger that you mentioned. You might be able to get away with a lower profile 150 but it would be very close. Must have been nice to have received the stock MC with the rearsets. I remember it being a PITA to get the ZUK MC to work with the rearsets. My brakeswitch practically fell apart in werase643's hands when he was installing them, so I don't have a clue as to were that supposed to go. Show me a pic of how you have yours...  O0

For the passenger rearsets? Wouldn't it be better to mount them to the subframe?
Title: Re: Boot State Update..
Post by: Chanse on June 05, 2009, 01:15:15 PM
Those are Ducati 1000 multistrada they are supposed to mount to the rear sets of the duc. So Im fabricating some brackets to sandwich between the rearsets and frame then using the stock rear peg mounts that I cut off, moving them forward and shortening them to give a little support from the top. Im also trying to keep the area between the tire and undertail as clear as possible, while keeping rear pegs.. Understand?
Title: Re: Boot State Update..
Post by: ineedanap on June 05, 2009, 02:03:34 PM
hey, great job on the rearsets.  If you decide that you want a shorter arm (and in turn a shorter throw between gears) two easy ways are

08 Hayabusa arm with woodcraft SV650 rod and cbr pedal (what I have now)

modified cbr f3 stuff with gs500 arm (what I had before)

Using the first one will give you a nice short 3/4 inch "throw" between gears.  Second one isn't too bad either.  If someone wants the second one they can have it for the price of shipping.

Thanks ill keep that in mind. It will probably be towards the end of the build. You know how doing things on a budget can get. Get everything functional first then astetics come later. There was an earlier discussion about how terrible rattle can paint can be... you decide. OK heres the pics of the Kat rear wheel, Its been sitting waiting for my tires to get in so the paint has had time to cure well, especially sitting in a hot car for about two weeks, I sandblasted the wheel, rubbed it down with brake parts cleaner, or acetone if you have it handy, then painted with rustoleum performance wheel paint silver metallic, with rustoleum performance clear coat on top. turned out really well, no trash in the paint the speckles shown are actually some of the bits of metal flake reflecting light. I left the bearings in when blasting and painting because they were frozen anyways and I have All ballz bearings waiting... here's some pics. Let me know what you think.

yeah yeah yeah. I know.. but I keep changing stuff.. now Im torn between doing the bandit 1200 swing arm with a 5.5 and 190, the kat 4.5 with 160, or 02 GSXR 750 with a 200.... the GSXR will be the hardest... already have the kat wheel and 160, the bandit swing, and the gsxr swing but no rim for the later two...... hmmmmm... cant decide.

OK, So I know its been a long time since I started this thread, But I ran into quite a few issues with this kit. Here's  some links to my photobucket page so that you all can see exactly the same picture I sent to mmotos with the problems I had, after round and round with joe and the other guy aluzio, with no solutions but run-arounds and excuses, and after repeated PM's from people asking about this kit, I decided to go ahead and post my results so no one else will buy from these clowns and save their money. I still have almost all of the emails saved from correspondence if anyone wants me to post them let me know. If I have enough intrest I will take the time.

http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv329/lafleurnc/more%20damage/ (http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv329/lafleurnc/more%20damage/)

There was damage from shipping.  All pieces were wrapped and taped in 1 layer of bubble wrap put in boxes and then stuffed with newspaper. The parts were all shipped before they were fully cured therefore they all warped in shipping. The Quality was CRAP. All pieces were hand made and it shows. The light lenses have bubbles in them and donot fit properly. The entire kit doesnt fit properly because it is not made for an F-Body, which I asked about and told them I had repeadidly. They were not painted with the colors I specified. The instructions were in portugese. And I was told after pointing out multiple problems all shown in the pictures I provided that they feel they are only responsible for 5% of the problems and damages that they would reimburse me for thats a wopping $75..... I was also missing the front blinkers completely, and was told to find someone or remake the brackets myself. On top of that one of the bolts broke off in the clipons and I cannot turn the bars completely without hitting the front fairing. Since the company is based out of brasil and They drug everything along so long that Im gonna have a hell of a time fighting them over a refund. I am completely disgusted with them and their service.

that is one awesome packaging!! I wish ALL my packages come wrapped in this kind of "tissue paper"   :D :D :D

on the serious side, I am really sorry to hear about those problems.
Hope you'll resolve them soon!

EDIT: this would have been absolutely stunning kit, if it was made the right way!

It all looks good in the pictures but when you get it in there's trash in the paint, bubbles in the lenses, cracks everywhere, pieces dont fit properly and a whole host of other problems. In retrospect I would have only paid about 4 or 5 hundred for this kit knowing the condition it comes in and the amount of work that needs to be put into it to get it nice.

^^^^^^
shoot man, that sounds awful.
do you have any plan on what to do next with this mess?

$1500 is a lot of money, especially these days!

anyways, I sincerely wish you good luck, and hope that those bastards will NEVER sell this kit again!

I am sorry about what happened to you for buying this kit.  I was considering to buy the tail (rabeta) kit but after reading this post, I DEFINETELY WILL NOT!!. I noticed that they took the listings out of ebay, I send an email to them a  couple of weeks ago  to know if they were still selling the kits but no response yet.  I appreciate the fact that you took the time to let us know about the bad quality and poor service from this guys.  The pictures speak for themselves.   :2guns:

Well its official Ive officially been blown off by the tards at MMOTOS, emailed them 3 times after they told me to fix everything and send them a price, still being fixed but sent the quote and they havent answered in about a month and a half over three emails. even after other people have been getting emails from them. So ITs officially a rip off. They promise you one thing, screw you around to get passed the two or three month period so paypal and credit cards cant file a complaint then send you Shite, and dont return your emails... So buyer beware, Ill still post pics when everything is said and done, but DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.....

Oh yeah Ill be able to use them I do some fiberglass work and can build new mounts to mount them I just dont have the place to do it besides under the carport and the old bag doesnt like that idea too much, But I am working on it kinda slow, but to put the right paint on it when all said and done Ill end up putting an additional $450 total maybe a little more
