Title: flush mount turn signals
Post by: joepua on May 09, 2009, 08:58:50 PM
I've been contemplating changing the turn signals for my GS500F and read up some threads on flush mounts / integrated / etc..

And I've decided to go with this for the rear, courtesy of nascarkeith:

But I don't know where to find them! Anyone know where I can get one of these?

For the front, I wanted to go with these, courtesy of CndnMax:

but they aren't D.O.T approved, and I don't really want to go with something that isn't approved even if they are better than the stock.

So, anyone with experience moding their turn signals, can you specify what you used and their visibility on the streets / approval? Some pics wouldn't hurt  :D

Thanks for any input.

I'm not sure if you are specifically referring to flushmounts being not DOT approved and better than stock, but from what I read everyone says flushmounts are barely visible at all.

Yes, unfortunately the flushmounts probably aren't great for visibility, but I just don't like the stock that the GS500 comes with  :icon_neutral:

From what I've read, the flush mounts I was going to get seem to flash pretty bright and are a pretty good set of flush mounts

I have a set of the front blinkers but have a tinted lens on them that i will sell if you want.  I replaced them with a pair of led front flushmounts and agree they aren't as bright so i also installed new mirrors with integrated led blinkers.  I will post a pic tonight.  I figured having two set of blinkers up front with one facing forward and one out the side would be better visibility wise and looks much better imo.  In the rear i only have the integrated tailight right now but am planning on adding flushmounts on the sides of the rear tailplastics too one of these days.

The rear blinkers i have seen down here at a local parts shop.  They mount using the screws on your license plate.  If you have only been looking online I would suggest running down to a cycle store and seeing if they have them.  If so you can buy them there......or get the name of them and buy them for cheaper off the internet  :flipoff:

Those I have on the rear do use the license plate bolts.  I bought them at my local Cycle Gear.  They are made by Lock-Hart Phillips.

Im running mini arrow led fronts w/16 leds. have the plate mounts shown on the rear of mine in addition to a integrated tail....

pick up the license plate blinkers on ebay.... got mine from a seller called luck bike search for license plate turn

I passed pa inspection with the above and I think everything not only looks good but is very bright as well.
