I only started riding in Dec 07, bought a very mint Suzuki GS500 for $2200.
Later I upgraded to a Honda VTR1000, and sold the Suzuki in July for $2400 on craigslist, it was gone within a matter of hours. The kid I sold it to had the nerve to negotiate with me after he had already agreed to buy it, so I gave him $100 off just to get rid of him.
Then I got a call out of the blue yesterday from a guy looking for parts for it and he had my number from the guy he bought it from. Turns out he was trying to sell it, and drove down and traded him $1000 in cash for it!
Basically it sat in this kid's parking garage where I delivered it to, he never got his license, it rotted away until the kid had to move back home and didn't have time to sell it, one of his friends picked it up. This guy put a new battery in and some carb cleaner in the gas tank, the poor thing wouldn't idle and would sputter and die below 4000 rpm.
I managed to get it to the gas station, push starting it a few times... and got some fresh gas and air in the tires and was able to ride it all the way home slipping the clutch to keep it revved up.
I'm not sure if I'll keep it or resell it... kinda cool to see your first motorcycle again after you thought it was gone for good. Can't wait to get it cleaned up and running like a top like the good ol days (ok it was only a year ago, lol).
Looks kinda goofy next to my big vtwin, but it's a great commuter bike and might be fun to take on some canyon rides again to try and keep up with the fast bikes in the twisties. I could ease some of the mileage on my VTR1000, I put almost 15,000 miles on that damn thing last year. And even if I do sell the GS again, well, I'm sure I can get $2K for it out here. It's like being paid to ride!

cool :thumb:
that's awesome!
I'm rather envious though....I'm buying back my gs500 (my first bike) and while it's in the same condition i sold it, it's a hunk o junk. No matter. i've been buying parts to play around with it over the winter....:D
What a sweet deal :thumb: I would sell it again for profit
Spring yellow - worth 2K easy. Sell it ... booya.
Cool.
Srinath.
Good looking bike you have there :thumb: . The clock in the dash looks looks so neat, almost like thats how it came out of the showroom.
Hahah the more and more I ride the more and more I start to appreciate a sweet looking bike. That bike looks really badass, and that's awesome you found it again! :thumb: I'd say fix it up and sell it for profit, but keep it close again! Maybe you'll get lucky and get some other kid that isn't so motivated, hahaha.
I really have no need to sell it. I'll at least keep it until I get a 3rd bike.
Maybe I'll keep my eyes peeled for a sportier windscreen and chin fairing.
Then I'll see if I can't scraps some pegs on it up Palomar mountain.
