Title: WTF? 4 position ignition switch???, battery died
Post by: JStrube on May 15, 2009, 07:33:55 AM
OK, This is strange.  I parked my bike at work the other day, turned the key off, locked the steering & removed the key.  When I got off work, the battery was dead, it is as if I left the headlight on...  Seems like It has 3 off positions, regular off, steering lock & 1 more.

My switch isn't marked, the marks have worn off.  Is there an accessory position I didn't know about?  This is an 89 by the way...

should be the "park" position, which is one more position turned all the way counter-clockwise. and yes, it keeps your rear brake light on. gotta be careful with that.

cheers,

I'm sure most of us have done that once! BTW :whisper: mine were labled but don't tell anybody!
Although the park function did come into effect when speaking with  :police: about my ahem speed yesterday! Only time I've really used it he was impressed that I used it LOL. Part of me walking away like a scolded dog rather than a $261 ticket well that and the LEO memorial EOW T-shirt!

hahahahahhaha +1...... glad to see someone else get hit by dumb stuff left on from other countries..... I believe in Europe its some kinda law that they have to leave the park light on when on the side of the road or some stupid crap like that, I think they had a discussion on here about it.

Yep its a law in some parts of Europe, but whats so dumb about trying to prevent someone running into the back of your bike if its parked up at night on a fast road........to me it seems dumb not to........but hey-ho  :dunno_black:

I'm all fine about having it I just wish I didn't have to lock the bars when doing it. Yesterday, when I used it for my ahem lecture  :police: it made it sit in weird angle.

Just my .02 cents!

Well, around here, the CHP warn people to turn off the lights so as not to attract "following drunks"
