Well, here's an update, then a problem.
Update:
Just threw on a new 45t Vortex rear sprocket, 17t front, and DID 0-ring chain... (about 2.6 gear ratio.. same as 15/39, just better for wear/vibration... plus I needed new everything anyway).
Current Suspension Setup:
Katana rear, 150 rear tire, .90 sonics up front w/exactly 35mm sag all around. Rear tire's a tad taller, so the bike sits a tad up in the rear compared to stock.
Problem:
My left-side fork seal is leaking like a sieve. I don't believe there's much... if any... oil left in it. The bike feels as if it's driving crooked... and I feel twisted in the seat a bit. Not only this, but there's a distinct squirly feeling of uber-sensitive wobblyness happening up front.
...
Now, I know i need seals and oil... but is this DEFINITELY why the bike is doing this? Lol...
I half know that I'm right... but I still would like a second opnion... or just someone to tell me I'm slightly retarded and should just fix the damn thing and see if it fixed the problem.
But I'd rather waste time... deliver a moot topic to the masses.. and see what happens.
You're welcome.
Well, it could be the seals, but you are probably just carrying too much weight in one of your pockets :dunno_white:
It's those big ass sprockets!
Return them while you can and get your vibration back on...
Chicks dig it!!!
Trust me ---> :bs: Bob!
Take care of the basics. Without proper levels of fork oil you run risk of tankslapper because the front sits low and the front wheel turn axis is nearer and nearer your body. Fix it.
I know I'm so dogmatic but when I decided to finally change the fork oil in my SV (turkey baster + tubing) the bike felt like it raised up a good 3/4 inch. More stable.
have you checked the height of your tubes in the clamps/triple tree? If you are getting squirrely feeling from the front end you may have thrown something kerfunky, maybe hit a bump hard w/ no oil in one tube and tweaked something....does not inspire confidence, go through your front end before you meet the tarmac.
oops...misfire...too much coffee...disregard this
Well I have new seals, wipers, and 20w oil in my possession. So this weekend will be a bit of a fix-it time.
I did however notice something odd that I may make a new post about... something that explains a lot of weird riding characteristics.
