Title: Can you clean carbs without taking them apart?
Post by: Turbowaffle on September 30, 2003, 04:14:58 PM
I was planning cleaning my carbs but ran into a problem. I stripped the head of one of the screws on the holds the bottom of the float bowl cover.  I went to use my screw extracter and the tip broke off in the screw  :x . I don't know how much luck I'll have removing that screw now, and I wanted to see if there's a way I can rinse out my carbs without taking them apart.

use needle nose vise grips, they'll come off just fine.  8)

Use a left handed drill...or soak carbs in 2 gallons of gas and a pint of yamaha carb cleaner and some squirts of penetrating liquid......swirl it often and take it out and dry it...should be clean enough to eat off..But remove the screws...
Cool.
