Title: front foot rests
Post by: tripleb on May 22, 2009, 01:14:28 PM
will these work as replacements for the front rests?  They are pretty cheap ($10 with shipping) and the availability of the different colors is pretty cool.

they appear to be similiar to the pegs that are in the wiki: http://wiki.gstwins.com/index.php?n=Upgrades.Pegs but it's hard to tell if the end is angled or not...

They look different than mine. If it stops raining I'll go out and snap a shot!

Erm - I don't think there should be a fork/U there. Gut engineering instinct - weak, perhaps dangerously so.

Or may not fit. But if they do fit, they are missing metal you'd want to have, IMHO.

from the wiki:

Note SOLID peg going into steel fork/U (and ISTR that someone did break one off at that, but I don't recall details and haven't got time to search for it).

Why bother? If indeed you lean enough to scrape them the road will do the work for you. And then you have something to show off :)

The inside end, silly. If the inside end isn't angled, when you hit the peg on the road the peg will be a hard part, not a folding part. That acts as a pry bar that removes your tire from the road. After that, control is a bit of a problem.

Judging by how the knurling looks folded over and the edges with all those burrs, this is likely really soft aluminum. Not to mention the overall price being so cheap. I wouldn't dare stand on them, stand on it and hit a dip or bump and you could be looking at a serious break in the pegs.

Those are the wrong footpegs.  Dod#i is right.  Those pegs are FRONT footpegs for pretty much every other sportbike except the GS500.  The wiki says you need to use PASSENGER footpegs for the front of a GS.

I have the passenger version of those pegs on my GS (solid on the bike connecting end). I think they were like $15 shipped, I got the "silver" color. I like them, they are very sturdy, grippy enough and LIGHT WEIGHT!
