Yea only US market ... and only regular cars, no lambo Gallardo types.
I'd start by naming my wifes car - 2002-3 mitsu diamante.
The previous generation Lincoln LS also.
Cool.
Buddha.
GMC Syclone, Buick Grand National GNX, and (this is kinda embarrassing) the 93-97 Mazda MX-6.
Infiniti G37 gets my pants a little tight...

Oh ... I like miata's, MG's triumphs, old VW's, that bus was killer ... no wonder everyone who had one was a stoner ...
Oooo Thing ... damn I have not seen a decent thing since I left California ... not seen a decent bug convertible either, and forget the van and the 914 porsche either ... damn ... where did they all go ... Oh ... slant nose ... 912 ... (heck I want a 912 motor to stuff into my bug).
BTW in charlotte NC lots and lots of 02-03 Mitsu diamantes ... 1000's ... see one everyday ... lady round the corner has one too ... in houston in 6 months, saw 1 ... the week I was leaving.
Oddly, I also like the 92 series Honda accord, I like the 93 nissan sentra (mine) ... but I have to admit ... the bugger is tiny. Though not cool for looks ... they are functional.
Cool.
Buddha.
Cayman.
912 is a freaking underpowered pig, go for a nice Whale Tail Carrera.
Mid-90's Jag XJ's. Awesome styling.
the avanti (especially when compared with the us made cars of the same period)
buick riatta was pretty decent looking car (again for it's time slot)
the mazda milleniums were nicely styled
rx7 verts ( course i am a bit biased.) the late 70's xjs even tho they were a Buddha Loves You to get dialed in right. ( known for probs, ive had 2 of them. both sold quickly both even tho i worked on them alot still loved em) 2006 and onwards maserati gransport ( a bit high priced but am biased as well), nehow. my favorite of all has to be the amx of yesteryear
912 motors fit a bug ... I gots me a 69 convertible ...
The buick reatta - yes I'd give my left nut for one, but has to be a cherry convt ... and no it wont grow back ... its my equivalent of getting the tubes tied ... :thumb:
Yes Jag's and rx7's OK but wont make my top ...
Oddly, geo metro convt ... early 90's ... freaking toy sized ...
Cool.

I loved my S10 Chevy Blazers pre 2002 (I think)... basically before the crap Trailblazer came out.

In 100+ years since the car was invented there hasn't been a single car built before this year you liked? Really?
neon's don't hold up in crashes well. somebody in one pulled out in front of me when i was doing 65 in my 1986 nissan maxima. both cars got totaled but his left on the flatbed, mine got towed. he had a 98-00 model neon. :o
:dunno_white: I was hit at a red light at IDK about 25 mph and my Mustang had to be towed. It's all about how you got hit. I was sittin still and they hit me at like a 45 deg. and went under the car and hit my rear tire. So not really the car, more of the piont of impact.
back on topic, i like the chevy s-10 extreme's. :icon_twisted:
300zx
3000gt
Well,
Mine have been said. Dodge Neon SRT uh-huh I had one in red my Jelly Bean it survived four wrecks before I gave it up and a friend of my doctor is still driving it I miss it! Also the Dodge Charger SRT (I like Dodges!). The Mitsubishishi 3000GT NICE.
Of course I like My 1999 Sunfire GT Convertible pretty slick little car. My next sensible car will probably be a dodge calibur the Neon's replacement!

the Neon will NEVER be replaced.

nope it lives on as a pt cruiser the 3k gt i had one it liked to blow valve seals, and tuneups were holy shaZam! expensive ( n parts alone) the twin turbo awd version. some of them ( the earlier ones liked to break crankshafts or driveline components when it hooked up. BUT htey are FUN AS HELL to drive tho
i still like my p71 tho. does 130 without breaking a sweat too. am going for top speed run later on this or next month to see where she wont go faster. ti do as well, like the charger srt8. those are FUN to drive
CRX with a tasteful body kit, MR2 with the widebody kit, Mitsu 3000gt VR-4, Galant VR-4, 1987-1993 foxbody stang, there are more, just can't think of them.
Marys' sunfire gt wiht her driving it 8) ooops did i type that out loud... lol, nehow , hte fox stangs i LOVE, specially the verts O0 i love the 2nd gen rx7 verts as well , well hey im a vert fan

The Karmann Ghia. I love this thing:
My favorite that I've actually owned: 1989 Ford Taurus SHO. This one looks identical to mine. This car is SO unassuming....until you pop the hood. Nothing like getting blown out at a red light by a 4-door. Of course, the pirellis I had on it were kind of a giveaway, if you were inclined to look. I got this sucker up to 140 on I-10 and chickened out before I ran out of car.
+1 oramac, i have always liked the firebird/camaro. Depending on the years in question i favor one over the other.
Do 904's qualify as exotic? What about XK-SS's?
Oh yea, beetles are cool, so are Karmann ghia's, and things.
I even like the busses and type 3's ...

all time favorite: volkswagon bug, pre 1970's. sit in a restored machine, and step back in time. the smells, the rattles, the FUN of being in a car that hasn't changed in 40 years, but still feels like something new. awesome.
everything after 1990 is a completely boring sheet box. (i loathe 'emphasis' filters)
The Jaguar XK-E comes to mind. I also liked the looks of the Chrysler Conquest/Mitsubishi Starion...not to mention they ran like a scalded dog.

i wholeheartedly agree terry, when you bought one. you bought the chassis and powertrain usually then a coachbuilder would enter the picture and build the car to YOUR wants. BAD assness to teh Nth degree
well, the exotics are more acquireable than a doozy these days. Those things are basically priceless in that condition.

Yeah I reckon we get a better deal! We both have the same problem, though: car manufacturers have lost their imaginations, and the classic designs of previous decades seem like a lost art.
The modern MGs are great little things - as much fun and as cheap as the originals, but pretty safe too - as my acrobatics demonstrated.
What a list of very not cool cars, the coolest car all around would have to be the 49-51 mercs. Custom led sleds or stock those things rock. Nothing beast the sound of a flat head v8! :thumb: Ive owned more than a few triumphs, 59 tr3, tr8, tr7, tr6, and still have 63 and 77 spitfires. The coolest car ive owned would have to be my 66 chyrler 300 4 door. 440 with dart heads, pushing 500 rear wheel hp, and stock rims with snow tires on the rear! It was great heading to cordova and laying down a 11 sec run with snow tires spinning most of the way. Even greater letting punk kids in hondas get a jump on a take of and then creep up and blow there doors off!
To each his/her own opinion. .. Mine being the mid 80's Monte Carlos.. LOVED mine.. 350, t-top, ratchet shift.... Also very much liked both my 69 and 79 Monacos
My dream car is a 1957 Chevy Bel-aire black with chrome.
My newer dream car is the new Dodge Challenger. I salivate everytime I see it. Lime green with the racing stripe or I could go orange!

I'm impartial as well, I drive an RX-8, partially for the novelty of the rotary engine and the awesome handling, but also for the styling. Really well done, IMO (though I think the new R3's are actually a bit less attractive than the standard GT models). I think the front end of that car with the flared wheel wells is one of the hottest things I have ever seen. The rear could use more creativity, though. It's like they spent too much time on the front half of the car, and had to toss the back together before a deadline or something.

No car would survive that. A guy in a Buick Century once pulled out in front of me. I hit him with a Nissan Sentra at 55. Totalled both cars.
This topic is about looks and nothing else. I agree the Neon looks as good as any large-scale production car ever. SRT-4 is AWESOME.

50's: '57 Chevy - preferably sunset or burnt orange/cream 2-tone.

70's: 1971 Chevy Chevelle - black
80's: 1987 GN GNX - they only came in one color ;)
90's: 1999 Pontiac Trans Am - black
2000's: 2002 e46 M3 - laguna seca blue

God, I love those cars! Maserati just rolls off the tongue so smoothly.
I actually think I may have talked my father into a Quattroporte. Initial cost on a low mileage 3 year old model is ridiculously cheap for what you get, unfortunately you get the Ferrari service costs. Actually, the newest Fcars are relatively low maint., those damn Masi's like to burn control modules and you can pretty much count on 5k each time.
I'd love to own one, someday I probably will, but my next car purchase will probably be an 00-01 996. Maint. cost is very low, great reliability and they look great too.

This one is SO much fun to drive. he just had the clutch done at 38k miles., thing sounds good, TBH sounded like a mustang with the larini pipes he had on it. trying to talk him into maybe TUBI?, essentially the gransport uses the 430's engine, fastest i had htis one was to 140 it wanted to go faster, as did he, BUT i thought to self, i cnanot afford this car so i respectfully had to decline. we traded seats, and he went faster :D. OMFG thank god we saw no :police:
