Did anyone watch or participate in Rolling Thunder in Washington DC today?
The wife and I watched the parade. We had fun seeing all the bikes. We even ran into a couple of buddies who were with me in Iraq. She wants to ride in the parade next year so now she wants me to get a Harley. I told her that it may be 99% HDs but other types of bikes were participating. Heck, there was one that looked like a military jet plane. She still wants me to get Harley. Oh well, it may be my next bike.
Here's sort of a Harley, and if you were able to be in DC to see the parade, it can't be too far from you.

Right. Virginia can be rather long. Looks like 254 miles. That's a ways....

dont let the uninformed partsfly off anti harley bias dissuade you. if you want one, and like it, get it FOR you , not her. ive bought a bike before cause an ex gf. ( gf at teh tiem) wanted me tot get it. worst mistake i ever made. i didnt like the bike, ive been in 2 RT parades before. and watched others. , and also rode in the tral of tears ride, hte sound of miles upon miles of bikes is amazing. to say thre least rode my first gs on one. and my sportster in another, its for a good cause ride whatcha got or whatcha want. a true rider wont write you off because your ride is not like thieirs, or what you liek is not what they like. or what you like theyt hate. im not a harley fanboy by any means but i do know my HD. ( am warranty certified to work on em ) so if you are considering any hd product including the LC ones ( vrod etc) and have questions about em, pm me and ill answer. if you get a used one however DO NOT get an AMF harley. ( back when unions and a bowling ball manufacturer made em. quality was to say the least, not the best in te world. my uncle in peoria az has one that has almost 200k on it. and is only NOW starting to leak oil. , ( this is a rare exception to the rule tho)
The only reason the wife wants me to get a HD is becuase she doesn't like riding on the back of the GS. She says the seat is too hard and narrow for any thing other than short rides. Actually I was looking at a Buell recently.
Yamahonkawazuki - any thoughts on the Buell XB12XT?
Idk... I rode a buddies harley the other day, and i was curious so i sat on the back seat a little bit....prolly the most uncomfortable seat ever... i spose it depends on the model tho. this was a 1200 harley....ehh.... somthing or other
i honestly have never ridden in a stock passenger seat that i would deem "comfortable". some were more tolerable than others.
I hate to inform you and your girlfriend, but Harley Davidson isn't the only company that makes cruiser style bikes with comfortable passenger seats. Insert Suzuki, Yamaha, etc. etc. etc.
I rather enjoy riding on the back of an '06 Honda Shadow! I'm 5'8 and 176 and my height is in my legs 34" inseem which somedays feels a little cramped on Flick. Like tonight my back was kinda hurting, it was raining, and I was in a hurry I slammed my right knee into the back fairing (OMG pain knee surgery x's 2) I did not want to bend my knee tonight to say the least!
Then getting an elbow to the chest by Bubbha Ray Duddly didn't help tonight either!
