Well,
I got into having fun working on bike. What started out to be touching up small scratches turned into a paint fest!
I did this for the sides! (http://i490.photobucket.com/albums/rr264/Toogoofy317/P1000381.jpg)
This will be for the windscreen: (http://i490.photobucket.com/albums/rr264/Toogoofy317/P1000382.jpg)
I liked the blue highlights above the tag! Gotta love Florida though was Bright not a cloud in the sky. Just as I finish Downpour no clouds! ARGH The cover didn't keep moisture out
(http://i490.photobucket.com/albums/rr264/Toogoofy317/P1000380.jpg)
So, the questions are: Should I paint the mud gaurd behind the tag like the top? I want to paint the chain guard should I do Blue or Red? I'm getting CafeBoy's  solo cowl what color should I paint it. And Lastly what color should the grab rail be?
Thanks for the opinions!
Mary
Looks good, I wouldn't paint the mudguard. I think if you paint the solo cowl and grab bar blue you should bring the blue down onto the side plastics a little. It would tie the rear in with the front.
What I want to do for the rear fairing is have my two favorite Scriptures on the sides. Do you think having the Font in Blue will tie it in nice?
This is my terrible photobucket Mock Up of if I did the mud gaurd. (http://i490.photobucket.com/albums/rr264/Toogoofy317/P1000380-2.jpg)
:dunno_white: EH?
Mary
Paint the cowl white. :thumb:

free and pretty good, I find it easier to use than photoshop, and did I mention free?
I think the Chain Guard is going to be Blue! (http://i490.photobucket.com/albums/rr264/Toogoofy317/P1000384-1.jpg)
i vote to paint the cowl white. probably because that's what i did and i like the way it came out. i'll take pics when the rain lets up! sheesh.
cheers,
~drin
i vote white for the cowl also but if you really wanna go crazy you could do a cool pinstipe design in blue on it.

+1 for the pics :tongue2:
Yes, the cowl is going to be White and I'm going to get some Blue Pinstripping to tie it in. Now for the grab bar!
Thanks for the tips all!

Looks great.
Good job with the paint bro.
Well,
I just painted the chain guard and the piece under the tail. It is actually a closer blue than this picture shows!
With the Cowl. The black that you have going around it I wonder if I could do that in blue?
Mary.
The black strip is edge trim that sticks on so it don't scratch you seat or tail plastic. I have not seen it in any other color than black.
Darn! Wonder if I could paint it blue? DrinCruz can you take a picture from the side. I'm drooling about this cowl. And CafeBoy you can bet I'm gonna pic whore it all day long!
I got the two pieces done with clear coat tonight. Gotta get the guard back on this morning before an appointment then I'll post up pics!

And a front view: (http://i490.photobucket.com/albums/rr264/Toogoofy317/P1000393.jpg)
What do you guys think?
Mary
I can't tell if its from the exposure of the camera or not, but the blue doesn't look to be the same blue as on the fairings/tank? If its the same blue then I like it! lol

yea doesnt look like the colors match perfectly, but well...matching colors perfectly is tough. im sure it looks better in person. but honestly, it looks awesome from what i can see. :thumb:
cheers,
drin
Yeah, I couldn't get a rattle can to match perfectly. It's a good way to start though. I just can't afford the Suzuki Blue paint from color rite is $33.95 for a rattle can they also say it requires a base coat to match perfectly! This cost $3.35 at Lowes! Does anyone know where to get the Candy Grand Blue for cheaper? Was thinking of going to the body shop that did my car and see if they can mix me some stuff.
Mary
I really like that painted chain guard.
This is a long shot, but is there any place you could take a paint chip of the color, have them analyze it and make you up something close? I think they used to do this for free at the local home improvement stores but it was used for wall paint... I think part of the issue too is that most of Suzuki's colors are more than 1 stage.
I want to do some paint too, except I'm too much of a perfectionist and would need to to match exactly... or do something to "disguise/blend" if it didn't. So I plan to use reflective vinyl stickers in a "easy" match color, like black.
Cafeboy's cowl is pretty sweet too... I just think white (at least in the pics) looks "undone" or closer to what one of those "grippy" passenger covers would look like in white minus the grippy. Pinstriping would be cool.
Not to threadjack, but I'm going to try to do my own one piece solo seat by destructing a seat and fiberglassing off its base so its got firm anchor points and will fit well... as soon as I get a seat to experiment on. I'm thinking of this for inspiration: http://images38.fotki.com/v1221/photos/5/525819/6174903/GSXR10007800x600-vi.jpg
Well you can paint the cowl in lots of colors or pin stripe or decal and what not.
They have some rattle can colors that you can get at pepboys, autozone, o'reilys, etc. by DUPLI-COLOR and another company cant think of it right off the top of my head, thay should be a little closer, and also you may want to check out a hobby store, they have some small rattle cans of awesome colors to use on models by TESTORS. I used some to paint some models of my 68 cuda before I decided what color to paint it. They make metalics, pearls, all kinds of stuff.
