Looks pretty good dude!  :thumb:

Now you just need to find a fender.  :)

BTW- You can raise the forks about an inch in the clamps to return the geommetry close to stock.

if, for some reason, you care to polish your exhaust bluemagic metal polish cream takes all the yellowing off and leaves a water beading coat of crap on there. i give it  :thumb:  :thumb: up!!

Wouldn't cost you more than a few bucks for a couple stainless frame bolts.  those ones on the bottom part of the frame are pretty gross.

forks were pushed/bent into the exhaust headers, (replaced forks/seals) dash is fubar, functional yes but ugly, speedo glass broke, again on the honey-do list, that suzuki cover is 1/3rd gone,(case is fine though) handlebar slightly bent, am using will replace, but not really high on the list yet, back grab handle is slighly rough, also missing the center section piece of plastic which goes under the grab handle.(my fault on that) oh yeah, almost forgot, gotta manifold leak on one side to repair, although about the only side affect to that is itfouls its spark-plug about every 500 miles or so. i use the term frankenbike cause i brought it back from the dead, btw when i first started her, it had gas in it a year and a half old. (accd. to dealer who had it)had to remove and clean carbs. it pissed off dealers gf cause it was supposed to be hers 8) every time i ride it there she's bout ready to go ape :guns:  :guns:  :guns:  :guns:  :guns:  :x , fender will get replaced, as soon as i can find one

HA, thats a pretty bike, just wait till i get mine posted, the tank was painted over flat black, still has old sponsor sticket on top of that and in some places the old factory decals poke out through chipped paint. theres the typical crotch dent leaving a good gap between seet horn and tank. left passenger peg/mount is gone the frame was silver but got paintes metalflake charcole and still has silver and rust shining through that the tank sits alittle askew, there is no rear grab bar and have old plastics.

Soft brass bristle brush for $1 at a flea market and Nevr-Dul (usually available at a lamp store, it's for polishing brass (not the brush)). Use the brush to get the big chunks of rust off and then the Nevr-Dul to get the rest and the Nevr-Dul works great on removing the rust off the rest of the frame, too!

Liquid Wrench may be needed to remove those bolts if they're rusted together.

Are those the stock forks?  The angle and maybe the missing fender made me think they were Katana legs...

as far as i know they are stockers, w/the factory springs inside :( , i purchased those from jared a few months back, heck almost a year ago. hav'nt had probs yet from the fenderless front though, (except for the pea gravel that flew up an got me through the open visor right on the bridge of my nose) still want to get fender though. also time for 4k svc. (have 4118 mi on it.) no tapping noises from the valve train yet, just noise from the header leak on the one side. so all in all, its done quite well for me :) i can see why these bikes are so well liked. (by us anyway)
mostly good performance on a shoestring budget.      :thumb:

I used a circular $4 firemen sticker from Pep Boys to replace my Suzuki ignition cover. It keeps the elecrics dry and looks decent.
I was also hoping it would get me out of speeding tickets. I was wrong :( Stupid, Los Feliz cops. 57 in a 35 should be legal for motorcycles

prob w cover is it also has a chunk missing off the bottom of it. probably will have to replace. did my second mod today though, 1st one was the signal lights in back the stubby ones, for some reason they keep goin out. ah well, second was drilling the exhaust can 2     1/2" holes in the centre, and 3       3/8"holes on the outside  :o  :o  :o  that and the exhaust seals i put on, feels as though frankenbike grew a set. now she sounds like a pissed off gixxer         no :bs:

actually when idling, sounds like a sewing machine on steroids  , when in the powerband, (or between 5k and up) she sounds evil, and a lot more responsive. am going toplay with the mixture screws next and see what more i can gain 8)    :thumb:

Wow i found the first frankenbike thread. :D not my first post but this was first regarding frankenbike ( a 97 500e)
i know it cause of 2 things. the now non existant uploadit.org pic thread ( uploadit is now into solid state connectors) OTHER thing was john called the bolts gross. why is it i can remember clearly 2003 yet a month ago  short term mem is kaput. course side effects of 2 broken ankles one twice or aggrivated lol. this i think predates a few of our members. or its close. :) i thought it was gone forever.
