Dear All,
I've previously posted the issues I've had with my bike under the title "IS THERE ANY HOPE". In short; I'm going to have to rebuild the engine.
The bike is a 2000 gs500.
I will need:
1. A "complete" cylinder head (must have all the valves).
2. A top end gasket kit
3. Four new wristpin circlips
4. New pistons and ring sets, next size up, (If I decide to rebore the cylinder), or pistons and rings set with new cylinder (if I decide not to rebore the cylinder that I have).
Please let me know if you can help, as I would love to fix the bike before the season is over.
Thanks.
I Have a complete head and a pair of decent pistons from an '01. The going rate seems to be about $75 plus ship for the head. I don't know what the pistons are worth. I also have a cylinder block from a 96 (black), the bores seem decent (no scoring) but it has one broken fin.
Do bore-tech.com on the cylinders.
Also used heads need to be decked and 3 angle cut. The factory did a lousy job of that to begin with. It really helps it seal.
Also heads etc have a thermal paint that reflects heat and hold oil etc etc etc ... but it starts to add up fast.
Cool.
Buddha.
To oldfast:
The head sounds good, Is there any way you can send me pics?
Regarding the pistons; if I'm going to need to rehone the cylinders, oem pistons won't help.
Thanks again.
Sure, I'll shoot a couple and send 'em your way. PM me the email where you'd like them.
