Title: Help, Rejetting.
Post by: 8_Ball on May 28, 2009, 10:52:49 PM
95 gs500
K&N lunchbox
Stock Exhaust (drilled)

Dyna Jet jet kit
128 mains
2 turns out

Ok, so i installed the DJ kit, runs good at idle but was very sluggish when i went to take off but wasn't smoking just felt like it had no power.  I called DJ and they said it sounded like the i was too rich in the needle so i move the needle, the WRONG way, to the third notch and little to no change. i then moved to the the first notch and now it is not as sluggish, it tries to go, but if i give it too much throttle it starts popping and it smokes pretty bad.  so if it wasn't smoking before and now it is, does that mean i went from too lean to too rich? going up on the grooves should make it leaner right?  or maybe i have been rich the whole time?  Thanks in advance for any help, i am tired of the disassemble and reassemble over and over again.

DJ spews some incomprehensible gobbledy gook when you call them ... that's why I have made a career, albeit one that pays very poorly for random, tedious work, out of pulling the m out and putting the stock style jets in.
Recently I got one to behave on my friends GS. I'd can if you prefer tune it on that ...

Anyway he's picking up the bike in a couple weeks, so it wont be possible for me to do it after that.
Cool.

Stock needle K&N and punched exhaust will be 150 main. If you got stock needles, that  method is fool proof ... I can swap and set it for you, no need to run it on my bike ... it will be 45 and return shipping ...
DJ would need a little tuning, mostly because I cannot jet them the same as everyone else's ... cos there isn't enough I've done to replicate.
Either way, send me all DJ and all the stock stuff you have and then tell me what to do ...
BTW your exhaust is drilled out ? how much and if its not like it has a true pipe ... your best bet may be to reverse that air filter.
If you do that, just go back to stock needle and 125 mians.
Either way, lemme know what you wanna do. I can do DJ jobs, but I am holding off on plain old jet obs till I get some of em projects done and out on the road.
Cool.
