Got my GS500F 08 on the track day yesterday. Bought SportDemon Perrilli prior to taking it to track. Got a Perrille rep to ensure i had the correct tire pressure and it was amazing. Having the correct tire pressure makes all the diff in the world on the Track.
First of all the GS is very very fun on the Track. It allows you to be more comfortable with the hardware of your bike such as the brakes and the tires. I was hesitant with my front brakes at first and slowed down way before the turn.. found out later that just trusting my front brake was the best way to enjoy the turn.
My GS got OWNED on the straight aways. I had GSXR, Triumps, Ducati, passing me left and right. But as soon as i felt comfortable with the braking.. they would zoom by me.. then either they went too fast or got scared and braked early at the turn.. here comes my GS with only needed to back off another 10-15mph and taking the turn at a perfect speed. With the right form i was able to pass them at the turn.. then when a small straight away comes up again.. well.. here they come buzzing by me. But the satisfaction of being able to keep up if not pass on the turns is just amazing.
I recommend Track days to you all GS500 Fans who like this bike as a begginer SPORTS bike. There is no better feeling than knowing a Duc 1098 just got owned by your GS500f. Of course this was the 100 level.. So all of you participants are all pretty new. Fun Fun Fun. :)
crap... i wonder what class dictates about modifications to the suspension.
i guess i should have done the track first
Crack day, they'd let you run anything, even your FE with the duct tape holding in all the vital parts as well as sealing up the oil leaks in the motor.
True race - yea you'd have to run with the more modded.
Though werase643 ran his Kat FE and GSXR rear wheel bike in regular track against a normal GS ... and crashed at the 3rd turn on lap 1. :thumb:
Cool.
Buddha.
what about frame modifications?
having chopped the rear off, will that fail every inspection?
Crack day's dont have tech insp I think ? Anyone know ?
Cool.

They do have tech inspection. However its only to ensure no leaks. You could do whatever you like on your suspension. They are more mainly worried about tire depth and no leaking oil and that the throttle and the brake system works. throttle they pull and ensure it snaps back.. thats pretty much it. if you are really concerned you can call the people sponsoring the track day. they will be more than happy to answer your question.
