Title: Bolt Question (Cylinder Head)
Post by: Adam R on October 01, 2003, 12:34:14 PM
It seems I'm missing the little bolt that connects the head at the front of the bike.  And sure enough, oil is leaking from that spot.  I would imagine that I could get a replacement at a hardware store, but I don't know the pitch and length of the bolt - and no dealer around here has it in stock.

Any one with the motor apart care to take a look?

Thanks,

Adam

AFAIK  its a regular 6mm 1.0 by about 20~25mm long.  You can probably swipe one from another place on the bike (the side covers perhaps) to find the right size and then get one..

Make sure you get a stainless or galvanized hardened one, Don't get the cheap-o black ones they sell at most of the big box stores (Lowes, Home Depot, etc) they rust quick as hell and are weak.

They rust...yes...but I have seen some that are 12.9 and some that are 8.8...both of those are hardened steel...pretty strong...but rust yes...Stainless hardware...lovely but impossible to get cos of metric.
Cool.

Any fasterner supply Co. should have them.  But it might be cheaper to get to the dimensions and go to a bike shop/dealer and ask for one. They might even just give it to you.
