Title: Any insight on the 84 Honda VFR1000 Interceptor?
Post by: Jackstand Johnny on June 04, 2009, 02:32:32 PM
Hi everybody. Its been a long while since I posted on here. I sold my GS a little over a month ago and couldnt really take being on here and looking at other peoples bikes.

This forum has always been really good about giving info on other bikes so I figured I'd ask about my next potential bike. Its as the title says, an 84 VFR1000 Interceptor. Ive been trying to read about their chain driven cam problems but wanted to know what else these bikes are known for. Any advice? Deatils on this cam issue? Thanks!

Think you mean VF1000R around the mid eighty's? If so I think they came with the gear drive cams not the chain, the chain was from the VF750 and under only the 750 had the problem and ohhh what a problem it was.
The 1000 was a beautiful bike but slow for what it was unless you put HRC race kit through and then you won races.
Costly to service and own if you have problems with it but a good honest bike if well looked after.
This is all by memory from a long time ago so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. :thumb:
