i have two gs's one on a uk L plate & one on a uk J plate the J plate bike is bigger and faster . hase anyone else noticed this as my local dealer says there are no changes  :o

Does the tail bodywork of the J reg bike look like this picture? There was one major body style change, making the bike bigger. That happened fo rthe 2001 model year (in USA). That's the best I can guess is happening-early vs. late model body styles.

Or maybe Learner, i.e. restricted to 25KW, vs Joy, i.e. unrestricted.

but wouldn't the restiction settings be internal (i.e. engine and exhaust mods) and not external?

because you can always de-restrict it, and then it should be exactly the same as a stock unrestricted bike.
